Okay, I've had it! After receiving yet another automated ransom type link exchange request, I've decided to fight back a little bit.
http://www.seoconsultants.com/links/s/p/a/m/
Each time I receive one of these automated link requests and they are relevant to SEO and they contain your typical automated/canned link exchange request with ransom note, I'm going to post the company name, company URI and the email address of the sender. No links other than their email link. ;)

Hi Edward,
Have you read this thread yet? Linkworth - Another Spammer (http://www.ihelpyou.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21764)
I think we're all a little sick of UCE.

How is it that Doug has gotten himself into anything? A member posted about a UCE spam that he'd been sent. Read the thread, Doug did not start it.
It's not unlike your entire TrafficPower center (which you were forced to remove) or HR's threads about TrafficPower and Rockynate (which are still there).
Yet some (not you, but some) people have the audacity to point a finger at Doug and state that he deserves to be sued, when they themselves have in the past been, and are currently, guilty of the same types of infractions they're now pretending to be above committing.
Oh the hypocrisy. It's enough to make one want to vomit profusely.
Please note that the FTC also defines UCE as SPAM. If you are the recipient of ANY Unsolicited Commercial Email, it IS SPAM.
The email box that this SPAM is sent to belongs to YOU and YOU are entitled to make it public if you wish.
Spammers are trying to get away with too much, too often. I'm glad people like Doug, Just Wondering, Connie, Anthony Parsons, and many of the other fine members in these forums are not afraid of spammers and that they will take a stand. That takes backbone to do, something that many of the ones pointing fingers, are severely lacking in.

Which you were forced to remove.Ummm, that isn't exactly correct and I won't go any further than that. ;)

LOL @ Edward. OK, didn't know you were being facetious. It's 2:00 AM and I'm still doing code. :(

Did you mean: facetious :)

Yes, that's what I meant. I'm so tired even my spelling has gone to poop.

facetious is one of the few words in English to have all five vowels in alphabetical order.

I spelled it correctly the first time (and have re-edited it ... again). I'm so tired even Edward's spelling looked "correct" ... I think it's time to put the code down for the night.

hmm, just saw this.
Good stuff Edward!
This industry needs many more people who actually "help" get rid of spammers. And I'm talking about both email and search engine spammers.
I knew Edward posted that tongue in cheek, but knowing many in this industry like I DO know them, I can understand how Deb took it wrong. There is GREAT hypocrisy in this industry, that's one thing that is VERY true.
I've been called many names by spammers out there, and by those who support/friends/buddies with spammers, but I don't recall ever being called a "hyprocrit".

27-03-2006, 12:48/12:48PM
LOL @ Edward's funny. He edited his spelling too ... ;)
It was late when we were both here. I think it was because I was overly tired that I misunderstood what he said, and because it was late he probably didn't state things as clearly as he usually does.
We're both human and capable of misunderstanding but in the end Edward knows I didn't mean anything against him. We've never had harsh or crossed words, ever.
You know, there's a deliciously devilish bit of humor behind what he's doing with those pages, don't you? Think about it. He's just adding their "email addresses" ... and they're spammers.
Spammers use web site scraping software to harvest email addresses from web sites. That means that other spammers will scrape the email addresses of those spammers and then spam them too!
I'm laughing so hard, it's just way toooooo funny!!!

That's usually a guarenteed blacklist on my server(s). We have a zero tolerence for spam. If it even smells like spam... their in trouble. Of course it doesn't hurt to block entire subnets of known spam networks.

He's just adding their "email addresses" ... and they're spammers. You're the first to catch that and make note of it publicly. If you read the SEO Link Exchange Quality Guidelines, you'll see that we award SEO Stars for additional email addresses. We really like the ones from @gmail.com. ;)

LOL. Well, I'm not an SEO and don't even use my @gmail account ... so, that means I'm just going to have to suffer through the rest of my life being "star-less"
Has anyone submitted through your forms yet? If they have I'll bet you had the sh*ts and g*ggles for a while, eh?

We have about 7,000 spam submissions (no kidding).

We have about 7,000 spam submissions (no kidding).A couple of years ago we decided that we didn't want to deal with the free submissions anymore. 9 out of 10 of them were total junk.
Since we implemented a paid submission fee, we've eliminated all but a few that still insist that what they are doing is acceptable. Dingbats, if they want to submit and pay $100 to be declined knowing damn well that our Submission Guidelines clearly state the offenses (they are guilty of) that would cause their submission to be declined, then so be it. :)

We've launched a new section at the SEO Consultants Directory...
The Clueless SEO (http://www.seoconsultants.com/clueless/seo/)
We needed something to inject a little fun into our daily activities. We hope you'll find the satirical approach to be a fresh look at SEO.

LOL You need to make damn sure "other" people who are trying to learn actually understand that those pages are satire. New people could get the wrong message and follow your example. :) The clueless SEO's, well, they are simply clueless and way past being new as an excuse.

Edward I like the page and concept. But as a dummie I do think it may be confusing to some. A lot of people would call me a "clueless SEO", and they might be correct.
ihelpyou
29-03-2006, 07:54/07:54AM
Nope. You are far from clueless Connie. Actually; you are VERY helpful to people in here on all things. Contrary to what a bunch of spammers say at threadwatch, you are far and above any knowledge they have about anything at all.
Matter of fact; that place is the epitome of the lowest crud this industry has in it. And that's a fact. If it wasn't for "this place" and maybe one or two other forums out there, ALL spammers would have free reign to shoot their twaddle and crap. We don't allow it and will out them at every opportunity. That's a credit to people who actually have the heart and soul to take a stand on things. This industry NEVER takes a stand. Why does anyone think this industry has a bad reputation from the "majority" out there?
Other places make me sick. But let me continue with the soapbox; I LOVE the fact that TW thinks highly of this place like they do and are soooo concerned with this place. It gives me goosebumps to know and see how truly concerned they really are about us in here.
Kudos to threadwatch for being like you are!
Please don't change one bit as your "noise" is heard by the whole industry, and many of us really appreciate what you bring to the table. :green: You people are truly pathetic. That's about the one word that really defines you. :) But please don't stop because I do love the fact you hate me, and the FACT you are calling all my great moderators and others stupid, who give their free time to help people in this industry. I honestly cannot say that your place is any help at all to this industry. But keep up the great promotion you are giving us. I love it. :)

Edward, here's someone you can add to your "clueless list." I've been sent at least 5 requests from this person so far.

find it.
I would be very grateful if you would add this link as follows:

Title: richmond luxury apartments richmond corporate housing
Description: Clarendon Apartments for the highest standards in luxury
fully serviced accommodation and short term apartments in Richmond
If this link has been added, is on another page or is unacceptable for any

Darren needs to "learn" what spam email is. He clearly has no clue as to what best practices are, and he clearly did not know he sent you a link exchange request.
These 3rd party link scheme software programs are about the most useless piece of crap that a programmer could think up. They also are about the most useless piece of software that "many" in this industy love to promote to make a buck. This industry needs to be ashamed of some of the crap software we all see being promoted.
Then we have clueless website designers and SEO's who then use this crappy software to send out thousands of spam emails asking for silly link exchanges with directories and such who don't even require a link back to begin with. LOL
Hey Darren, you will see the referrals from here, so I hope you learn something from this:

The emarketer.co.uk site probably designed the clarendonuk.com site. The clarendonuk.com site might not even have any idea that their designer is sending out email spam soliciting links for their site.
