I am not sure which forum to put this question in.

I want to get a customer aid/tool designed and wondered what language to get it built in, the two main options I can see would be a java applet or a flash file.

What I want to have built is a aid/tool that the online customer can crudely design the shape of the room in question, so up to 4 walls, then on the walls I would need a symbol for either a window/door/aircond/other built in device. There would need to be the ability to add measurements of the walls and distances between walls and devices. and also to be able to add text box with something like "I would like the fridge here" or "Stove goes here" or "sink goes under window" and once the final thing is done I would like the option for them to email it to us and maybe print it out for them selves.

Now I realise a lot of people don't have java or flash etc.. but the stats on my site say around 80%+ do have both turned on, so the tool would be for them.

Can anyone recommend what would best be able to suit my needs? I only say flash or java because thats the only way I can think of doing it, there are probably other ways to do it and I am open to suggestions.

As people could 'take it or leave it', I see no objection to using either - and I'd guess your target audience would probably be rather higher than 80% enabled.

I'd experiment with both, to find out which gave you the flexibility you need, but also consider speed and 'user friendliness' in operation. As for the tech side, I haven't a clue :)

Tony, IMO Flash would be the best to have it done in simply because it's more interactive and can provide drag and drop within the environment itself.
