Dedicated Host

Hello all!

I am making some HUGE changes in my situation. I am breaking away from the parnters I am with and will be out on my own in the beautiful OC!!!

I am taking about 50 sites with me and want to move them to a dedicated machine with a dependable host.

Anyone have any hosting suggestions?

I have no problem with people posting the replies in here since it is in the are it may help others as well, but I can't post what others decided not to :p

Once I make a choice I will let you know though if it helps.

That I really don't know, perhaps because they don't want inexperienced users to jump on their server choices when they aren't ready for servers, then complain that they are having problems and it was their suggestions that made them do it :p

The next time my dedicated server goes down will be the first time. I've had it since December of 2003 and not one issue with it. They're not based in Cali (they're near Detroit) but they're stable, solid, reliable, and actually have half a brain. (There's a shocker, huh?)

They probably block all of the third world countries from accessing US sites.... ROFL.

Absolutly! The most important thing to me is reliability and communication, then secondary is location, and lastly is price.

Since it is dedicated and is not my machine location isn't completly needed, but having them somewhere within driving distance could prove to be nice :p

Seriously, I'm not sure what would have caused that unless it has something to do with being in Australia and having trouble getting to US-based sites, although that probably isn't the case. Probably just a malfunction at the junction between your end and Sectorlink's.

Anyway, I wouldn't have recommended them had they not been what I said they were. I've been a customer now over 4 years, and I can't think of anything that I've been a customer of that long.

I agree with you there. I've had my server guy who supplied the server these forums are on for 5 years now.... since launch, and not a prob, and I can't think of but just a couple of times when the server was down..... almost never. You all can verify that fact because many view in here daily. These forums are on a server with a few other websites... clients. All clients are happy campers as well. I do think you should talk to my guy as well Comeran. You can't have too many options. :)

Blue sent me some great details (felt sorry for me) and it appears my current DS is within the scope of realistic pricing. Since moving, about 3 months ago, I have no reason to dump them.
