I was removed.

I have no idea why I was removed from their directory. I was in it for several months and now this. I submitted one of my product pages last month. Could this be a reason?

I'm not even exactly sure what my original category was but I sent a message to one of the editors.

probably was, if your product page wasnt unique, it could be seen to some editors as spamdexing if the two arent different enough.
you should get in touch with an editor and have them take a look at the editors notes and see if there was some sort of misunderstanding

is that sending in the product page turned the spotlight on your "old entry"

i wouldnt fear to be excluded of spamdexing. it takes much more annoying things for that to happen.

i rather guess that some editor (maybe a new one) came to conclusion your site would rather fit into an other category and moved it there

this of course can take as much time as a new registration depending on the editors involved..

It seems I also had 2 of my sites taking out of the listings.
They were in the drugs/medications section and both have been there since last year ( June and July enteries)

NO IDEA why as I did not resubmit them nor do anything. I am in looksmart/yahoo/google and the rest

Anyone out there have any idea why I would be removed??
even ran a search for my url's and they are truly gone.

It also seems as if google is using ODP results now.

I know that google dumped lots of sites for using guest books but i never have so thats not it.

I'm not sure if this applies to your sites, but as since I am a DMOZ editor I thought I would mention that there seems to have been a bug recently that has caused some of the listings in some categories to disappear. I know that I spent about an hour last nite trying to figure out why one of the categories I edit was missing half its listings. I've only been editing for a few months, so maybe one of the more experienced editors would be able to help you more. YOu might want to email the editor of the category that your site was in and politely ask why its no longer listed. I hope that helps.

I was able to contact an editior that was in a category above where my sites were.
It seems after 8 months of being in ODP I was pulled because my site was an affilte site, ( they also pulled all of them out )

I wrote back and informed Motsa ( editor for drugs)
that the 2 listings that she left in the category were also affiliate sites and she said she would look into it.

I have asked her to reconsider ODP policy as many sites that indeed are affiliates for selling drugs offer lots of useful information even thou that might not sell the product they are pushing. If you pull out the remaining sites there would be no sites under the sub-heading at all.

Wouldn't you consider this true for many subjects?

Many people design and mantain great informative sites to sell products that aren't theres, ( like many marketing sites).
Plus with Google using ODP results.....
