Hi all:
I have been lurking on the Zeal message board and the information coming out of there is not encouraging as far as Zeal being any help to affecting things at Looksmart.

It seems that the Zeal volunteer editors (Zealots) are now only allowed to work in non-commercial areas and are under review by the Looksmart editors. No way LS is going to mess up that newly expensive paid submission.

Here is a response to a question concerning inability to edit a listing:
"Upon closer examination, I realized that your category is marked "Commercial", which means that Zealots are not allowed to touch it."

Okay, now we understand why LS wanted Zeal. Before, they would surf around looking for good non-profit sites to add to the directory. Now they have the zealots to do it. Actually, this only makes sense.

If the Zeal listings are going to be in with the LS listings, LS has a lot to lose if a description or something is messed up by a zealot.

 .... maybe Looksmart will also use this to offer the best zealots an editer position? Zealots are in training. :D

I went back to Zeal after a few weeks away to find all my editorial privilages had been removed. The category I was an editor in was a commercial category, so I no longer have control of it. Booooooooo!!

Welcome to the forums Great-1! :hi:

Maybe a zealot is in training to become an LS editor? :D They are always looking for them.

I think that's Looksmart's plan. It's cunning, but it has it's downfalls. I think a lot of Zealots left when they had their "powers" taken away.

Thanks for the warm welcome
