I hope someone can help me. I had a logo made and although I like the design concept, the edges of the font used are ragged and a mess. Can someone help me fix this so I can use it?
Thanks, Lee

I see what you mean from what it looks like it may just be the font? ALso what DPI do you have it set to? What did you use to create it you just need to smooth out the font

Hello Lee, do you mean the, "R s v p e t c . . ."?
It's plain text, not a graphic...try using a different style font. Am I understanding your question?

Hi everyone...No, it isn't on my main page. You can see it at http://RSVP-etc.com/Contact.htm
I just put it there at the bottom of the page so you could take a look and see what you think. It's the graphic with the red rose.
I can't believe how bad this turned out even though as I said, I like the basic design concept.
Thanks everyone

This is not actually what you asked for. I just thought to suggest you something.
The next time you change the design of your site, try a light purple and lots of white in your design. Black color though looks great but does not looks feminine. ( just an opinion). :)

Thanks Farhan. Believe me, I know exactly what you mean. I was very leary about using this black and white design. But our sales have gone through the roof! And the questionairs I sent out to brides came back 100% positive...they love it! I can't figure it out, other than the fact that black and white weddings have been really BIG for the last two years. But I'm not going to mess with what works.
We did very well with the old pastel site, but this one went crazy! One of our competitors has now followed suit. I can't account for it, I just see the numbers! But I do thank you for your imput.

It looks like a combination of two problems:
1. The font kerning (the space between each character.)
2. When the font was applied, it looks like Anti-Aliasing was turned off. (Anti-aliasing makes the edges nice and smooth.)
If you can let me know what the script type font is, I'll try to duplicate it for you.

Thanks Mazy, but I don't know what the font is. Believe it or not, I paid to have this done by a company that makes logos!
I don't really care what font is used, as long as it is an elegant script type. I would appreciate anything you could do. As it is right now, I can't use this mess.
Thanks, Lee

OKies. Let me stick my Superman cape on and I'll be right back armed with something that you can use... :)
I just noticed that it has been saves as a BMP format too. That will not be helping your case! BRB

There ya go, my good turn for the month...
http://www.vbmedia.co.uk/logo.htm
I've saved it as a more web-friendly GIF format too, which has reduced the size from a staggering 42.3KB to a mere 8.5KB.
We could very likely get it even smaller but at the cost of colour.
Just right click on the page above and do a save as. I would suggest removing the old one completely and inserting the new one in its place.
Enjoy!
PS. Let me know when you've got it so I can remove the page.

The original image size is 350 x 120. You have a size attribute on the image set at 295 x 129. This is the reason for the distortion. Correct the size and it will be fine!
Any time you see distortion like this, first thing to look at is the image size attribute. Right click the image while in Normal View in FP and deselect the Specify Size checkbox.
P.S. Maz, shame on you! ;)

Eeek! Shame on me indeed!
Which will explain why it didn't look so bad on mine. But anyway, still a much smaller graphic ensues! So, I'm still going to don my Superman cape for another half hour or so, just to satisfy my inner-fetish... :D

That does't surprise me Mazy!
These people were impossible to work with AFTER they got my money! I know that they are well aware that this is a mess. NO ONE would turn out this kind of work if they were professionals or the least bit knowledgeable in their field.
They give others in the field a bad name...such a shame!
Thank you Mazy, for the kind offer to help.

Have you got the new GIF graphic now? If so, I can delete it from the VBM site.
Many thanks...

pageoneresults- the graphic looked just as bad before...only BIGGER! I just made it a bit smaller to put it on that page so that one of you could take a quick look at it. I was afraid it would be too noticable as large as it was.
Mazy- Thank you so very much! This is perfect! You are truly amazing!
You can remove the page at anytime...I've already copied it.
Thanks to everyone who replied. I appreciate it.

pageoneresults- you did bring up a point that I'd like to ask you
about. How would I go about making the image smaller without
distorting it? You mentioned something about FP?? Does that
stand for Frontpage? If so, I don't use it...I use Dreamweaver.
Could you tell me how to reduce the size in Dreamweaver
please?
Thanks, Lee

Hi Lee, yes, FP stands for Front Page also referred to as Front Plague by those MS bashers.
The only way to make your images smaller is to utilize a graphics editing program like Fireworks, Photoshop, etc... You could size your graphics using size attributes in html but that is not the correct way.
When you use the html attributes for sizing, you are only making the image smaller for viewing. You have not reduced its file size at all. For example; if your image is 400 x 200 and is 20k in file size. If you were to use the html sizing and reduce it to 200 x 100 it will still be 20k in file size.
When you use a graphics program and size down, your image file size also reduces so you may end up with 10k at 200 x 100 instead of the original 20k.
There are also some free online utilities you can use for optimizing your graphics for maximum download times. I don't use them but I'm sure there are many here who could provide resources for you.

hey Lee, the graphic on that page is X'ed out and cannot be seen. Do you have one there or are in uploading it now?

Thanks pageoneresults. I appreciate the help.
Yes, Doug, I'm in the middle of uploading quite a few things. It should be up in a bit.
