I'm doing the research on hosting providers for a new project. We're planning on using Joomla for its CMS capabilities, and I'd like to find a provider that has a decent track record with hosting Joomla-based sites.
I've been talking to aplusnet.net, and they've been very helpful so far. Right now I'm planning on going with them on this project, but before I commit myself, I wonder if the members of this board have any feedback on this vendor. Any input would be appreciated.
Additionally, I'm interested in any tips for hosting a Joomla site that you may have. I expect to do a lot of learning once I get the installation complete, but if you could save me some unnecessary pain, I'd appreciate it. ;)
Thanks!
Connie

Hi PerroLoco and welcome. :hi:
I would think any decent host would be fine for Joomla.

Welcome! :hi:
What's special about that CMS that you are worried about a host? The CMS has nothing to do with your host unless it's not being housed on "your" domain. If it's being housed on joomla, then it's not a good cms anyhoo. I've never heard of it, so I really cannot help much.

Hi again, and thanks for the responses.
My understanding is that Joomla is basically an application server, and as such, requires certain access to system resources that may not necessarily be available from any hosting provider. For example, to make Joomla-hosted sites SEO friendly, you need mod_rewrite enabled, and access to Apache stuff (such as .htaccess).
Now, I write the above paragraph with the following caveat: I'm still in the initial stages of learning about CMS systems and open-source projects like Joomla, Drupal, Plone, etc. Hopefully it will make sense to those of you with more experience. If not, I'm open to a learning experience.

Joomla is just another CMS application, that is not SE friendly out of the box from my understanding.
Any decent host will allow you .htaccess and mod_rewrite. They will also install any modual that may not be installed on the server at the present time.

I know my host provides what you need or will install it. JaguarPc.com ( http://jaguarpc.com)

Having had some small bit of experience with aplusnet, I advise against using them.

not so. they have a SEF module that makes it a totally decent CMS.
