I placed 6 pages with position tech and am glad I did. They claim to refresh every 2 days, and I called them up and they say that all my pages are refeshed, but to me it looks like I'm seeing pages from three weeks ago.

Not life or death, but what are others experiences with this?

Thanks

Kevin C.

I know experiences are on and off. They can have problems from time to time but they are solved shortly.

Someone else can answer you better as to experience.

Kevin,

In what search engines do these results look like they are from 3 weeks ago ? Do they look old in the Positiontech Pure Search engine ?

It is doubtless true that your pages are refreshed, as this indicates only that the Inktomi spider has revisited your pages, it does not indicate whether or not Inktomi's partner sites have updated their listings.

Marky:

Yeah, I only check with MSN. I punch in a search term there and check. so what you are saying is that Position Tech may in fact update or refresh my 6 urls but MSN doesn't pick that up?

then what's the point? It's MSN that matters.

No, that's not quite what I was saying. What I was saying is that the 'refresh' thing in Positiontech indicates when Slurp (the Inktomi spider) has revisited the pages. It does not indicate when individual partners have updated.

Of course, MSN et alii are supposed to update at the same rate, but may not be doing so.

Did you check the Positiontech Pure Search thing to see that they are showing the current title and description ? Post the URLs here and maybe I can give you a more definite answer.

It is actually a pure Inktomi search and can be found here (http://169.207.238.189/search/search.pl)

Positiontech Pure Search is a feature of your account, where you can view the positions of your pages in a Pure Inktomi search engine. You can access by clicking on the clks column, then clicking any search term that your pages have been found under.

Or, you can save yourself time and effort - the URL is:
http://169.207.238.189/search/

oh, MsSearch beat me to it. Slow typing fingers today !

What is the clicks column?

I compared pure inktomi to MSN, not much difference, correct?

When you log into your position tech account and pull up the URL's you already submitted, there should be another column labeled 'Clks'.....that is the clicks column, which gives you some click-thru data....next to the Clks column is the date of the last refresh.....
