Ok, on msn.co.uk a search for the word hotels, and up I pop at #8. All well and good. Do the same search on msn.com, and I'm no where to be found.

Are msn.co.uk using different methods to msn.com???????

The truth is out there. But you won't find it on AltaVista.

Just a thought....Since msn.com pulls from looksmart.com and msn.co.uk pulls from looksmart UK, this could account for the difference in results...I'm not saying that a listing in Looksmart US won't show up in msn.co.uk but the UK sites will get a bit of preference possibly...

someone may know for sure as this is just a possibility....

mmmmm. Could be. Although I have the exact same listing in ls.co.uk than in ls.com.

A good ranking in Looksmart does not mean you will rank that way in MSN....MSN uses their own criteria along with the LS listing info...

That much I'm aware off. So not only are MSN putting their own algo on top of the Looksmart listing, they do it differently for com and co.uk

Possibly, MSN.com places more relevance on sites from LS.com as opposed to the other LS regional directories...whereas MSN UK places more relevance on the sites it pulls from LS UK...

maybe someone else could shed some light here...

MSN UK - LookSmart UK listings above LookSmart US listings. LookSmart US title and description overwrites LookSmart UK title and description if you are in both. You are seeing LS UK making you #8 on MSN UK and you are buried in all the other LS US listings on MSN.com.

I've had a #1 for casino on MSN UK via LS UK - while I was at #198 on MSN.com. Why? I was the only LS UK listing for 'casino' :)

Those were the days :(
