A friend of mine paid huge bucks to buy a domain from mostwanteddomains.com - which is known for registering domain names that are common everyday phrases. He paid them via Paypal cos through escrow would have meant an additional 2%-6%. They wrote to him asking him for his contact info and then nothing. The domain still shows 'for sale' and has not been transferred to him.

The payment was initiated on Jan 25 and mostwanteddomains.com got the money on Jan 30. My friend told me about it yesterday. He has a receipt from Michael Berkens, the owner, and the subsequent contact was with someone called Adam Matuzich. I wrote to them using a form on their web site as well as by email. No response. I called them and they don't accept voice messages for anything about domains. You have to email them. I left a voice message regardless.

Has anyone had any experience with these folks?

I just wish he had talked to me before he went ahead and did what he did. It's already past the 45 days that Paypal says you need to record a dispute within. But my friend really just wants his domain - getting his money back would be an unsatisfactory result is how he put it.

Any clue what I should do next to help my friend?

Never heard of them. My only suggestion is to contact ICANN.

I've been writing to them almost every day and left voice messages for them, regardless of what they say about voice messages.

I told them I was going to initiate a transfer and to send me all the info I need to ensure that the domain transfers smoothly.

I thought I would try this route before escalating it to a complaint with ICANN.

I got a response today letting me know that they have requested an auth code from their registrar and will send it to me as soon as they get it. Hopefully, things will flow smoothly from here on.

That's a great link. Thanks, Mani. I hope I don't have to use any of the info there. I am still waiting for the auth code.

Your friend can do a refund request from paypal maybe that will get them into action?

It's past the 45 days within which Paypal needs you to initiate a dispute. And my friend really wants his domain. I haven't received the auth code yet and I have already sent a reminder once.

jmlcards, welcome to IHY :hi:

This was resolved a long time ago. I should have updated this thread with that information - my apologies.

It took a while for the domain to be transferred and this was what my friend wanted and preferred over getting his money back and any litigation.

Great to hear. I am negotiating a domain purchase with them right now. I know many people in the business, so I figured if they didn't fix the problems, I could probably help. They want an obscene 50x yearly revenue on the domain, but I'm working on getting that number down significantly.

Welcome to the forums Jim :hi:

Hope you are able to get a decent deal, but make sure you know a little about the domain, it would be a shame to get the domain just to find it has been penalized in the SE's or banned from Google leaving you with an almost useless domain.
