Can you guys believe this one?

Chef2Chef.net is a recipe site that provides free content.

On their page that offers the code to add a free recipe search box to your site, the code itself is very spammy.

So, anyone that adds this crap to their site becomes a spammer.
The code isn't even valid, and it's spammy to boot.

Check this out, ever see anyone abuse "name" like this?

yeah it's spammy. Why not put this in public?

I'm not sure if putting it in public in here would make a great deal of difference.

Where it would need to go is somewhere that a bunch of chef/cooking site webmasters would normally look. Is there a discussion board for that sort of thing?

But if/when you do, be certain to do more than just publish the code. The code by itself is meaningless to a non-programmer.

Explain what it does and why it is spammy, otherwise you risk wasting valuable ascii electrons. :hi:

None of the folks who would put it on their site would really care. To them spam is what comes to them in their inbox or as comments in their blogs. Unfortunate but true.

I agree it is spammy, but I don't think that is the kind of spam that would get a site into trouble.

On the other hand I think it would be good to post this in public. It would be another lesson to help educate newbies about what to avoid.

I doubt a post like this in a topic related forum would have much impact on the members of that forum.

OK, I bolded the name attribute in red so it's more obvious what's spammy about it. I'll move the thread public to the Best Practices forum.

It's a recipe for getting into hot water with Google :)

Doubt it will do them any good, or harm, for that matter. However, it's likely another point toward a spam threshold.

Or it may be a result of total ignorance.
