I just got accepted into Looksmart directory for $149.00 Only thing is I forgot to put state, city I'm in , but that's ok because within 30 days you can try to change your description at no charge.

Only thing is I should be moving to new state in 3-5 months. What should I do? What would you do? It wouldn't even be an issue except they officially charge $199.00 to change anything. Although girl on phone today said it "should" come down in price. Anyone heard anything?

I could put both states now on homepage, but it's cumbersome and not really accurate for next 4-5 months, but I could do it.

I could just put the correct state now, and then change and bite the bullet and be gauged again in 4-5 months. Perhaps that the "right" thing to do.

curious what others would do.

Thanks

Kevin, what kind of business is it? Does the location really matter?

Jill:

Business is Photography, Music other arts. Location is a must; I'm just debating should I put both states down ( bicoastal and avoid the next change fee in 4-5 months) or just be more accurate, put current state, and then pay fee after I move to change to new state.

I would prefer latter, but am not pleased with idea of having to pay whole rate again, (even more) just to change city, state. What would you / and other do, curious?

I would simply wait for 4-5 months to do anything and then make the permanent change.

I agree with Doug...if you change to the new future location now (just because its free to request a change of description at this point in time), you will be marketing your services in an area that you currently don't service as well as neglecting potential customers in your current area...

To clearify:

I could put (in next 30 days, no charge to change...) current state and the future state. In other words, I could put both states, change homepage ro reflect this, and be "bicoastal". Hence I would get business in current state next 4 months and not even have to change again. Of course, I would be receiving calls from now from people out of state, and later same thing. But would avoid having to pay another $200 ,or so. just to change a city state.

Or I could just bite bullet, ask for current state now ( again, I've been accepted, and have 30 days, no charge to add location) and then "do the more accurate thing" and repay again and change new state in four months.

Just curious what other would do if in same situation -- if they applied to and were accepted to Looksmart 4-5 months before moving.

Had I known about the charge to change I would have waited for the move to apply. Hope this clearifies better. Still curious what others would do in my situation.

Thanks Kevin.

Maybe you should ask LookSmart. It's possible they may let you fix the state thing for free in a few months. They do want their results to be accurate.

Just a thought!

Just called Look smart, and lady says, no you would have to pay the big fee in a few months, just to change city state. So I'll debate what to do. thanks

And that is why LookSmart bugs the crap out of me. Something like that should be done out of courtesy in my opinion.

I couldn't agree more! What other business on the face of the earth wouldn't do that out of courtesy.
