What an idiot. Looks like some sort of brower hijack software :whip:

The price for one keyword is $1995 for one year! :soapbox:

That's exactly what it is, and it's not unique. It's been around for at least 8 years. I remember back in 2000 when my first client was approached with it and I had to look up what it was. Apparently users 'freely choose" to download the software (yeah, right).

I haven't seen one of those in a while. I didn't know they were still kicking around (although I can't say I'm surprised.)

Didn't some of them go to jail for that, last year?

yeah, this is the same crap that the "I am Furious" thread started because of. It's VERY old stuff.

Yes; of course they all claim the user downloads their software knowing exactly what they are downloading. It's nothing but spyware/adware.

Welcome! :hi:

It's really the same stuff that has been out there for years. I'm very sorry you got taken by this, but I'll bet they have a disclaimer for all things when you signed up for it. If not, then I suggest talking to a lawyer to see what you can do.

People get ripped off online. It happens. Maybe it's a case of people simply not doing the proper research before signing on with stuff like this... don't know.

Pretty simple. Create a website that details your complaint. Use Google AdWords to place a Sponsored Link above the results for the company that scammed you that takes you to that website. It won't cost very much.

All the link needs to say is, "Company X - Before doing business with them, read this".

The consumer who is researching the Con Artist Company can get a first hand account of someone who was unhappy with the service.

That's not a bad idea for the most part, but you don't need to buy AdWords to pull that off. Most companies don't have enough of a presence online to be able to quash a negative review within SERPs, so you can usually just write a quality review of the company and that's enough.

True enough, but what better way to get a con artist's attention than a Sponsored Link appearing above search engine results (which they purported to sell to you!)?

That's a good point, actually. The irony of the situation would be somewhat delicious.
