Hey Folks,
I just found the option in my WYSWYG editor to add CSS Tooltips to my hyperlinks on my website. I have started the process of adding these into my site with a brief description of what the page that link goes to. Are these titles considered at all in SE's? I want to keep them for the site visitors because I think it's helpful, but I couldn't find very much info out there on the net about them.
Thoughts?

No search engine benefit at the moment as far as I can tell. Use them for visitor guidance.
The words there are not indexed. You can prove that easily enough.
Who is to say that the attribute isn't read and given a spaminess-rating though? That could happen, or might have already.

I don't think they provide any SE benefit. However if used correctly as you described they can provide a benefit to your visitors.
Who knows someday SEs my consider tool tips. If and when they do, and if you have used them correctly that will give you an advantage over your competitors.
As G1 pointed out, they may even use them now in regard to Spam.
I think the key here is to use them correctly. Forget about SEs. Consider the benefit to your visitors.
Helping your visitors can increase your sales or whatever response you want from your visitors. Increasing visitor response can have a lot more value than SE rankings.

Came across this
Too much accessibility - TITLE attributes (http://www.rnib.org.uk/wacblog/articles/too-much-accessibility/too-much-accessibility-title-attributes/)
when I researching some info for my "Get the names right" mini rant on Elements, Tags, Attributes and Values (http://www.candsdesign.co.uk/articles/seo-and-design/elements-tags-attributes-and-values/)

Thanks for the link to that article, Chris. I just skimmed it (little one is talking to me right now) so I'll read it a little later on when I have some quiet time. :)
