Welcome! :hi:

Huh?

Why don't you simply look up web hosting? There must be about 1 million hosts out there that would host your site.

Doug,

I could be worng ... but -- I think s/he's talking about "presell pages", and not actual hosting.

A presell page is a specifically designed page related to one domain, and consists of a list of "promotional links" to that specific site, and if the host domain has PR > 4, the price for such a page is $200+ a month.

Think of it as textlinks on steroids.

Oh Good Lord...when did this come about? I just Googled the term "presell pages", since I've never heard the term before. You can get a veritable "who's who" of the dirtbag SEO industry just by doing this.

I see Wall, Boykin, Thies, Malicoat, Text Link Brokers...it's the ultimate "screw you" YP.

hmm. Isn't that just a modified doorway page? Isn't that what we call search engine spam? In other words, it's spam as those pages should be using the nofollow tag since they are paid for, right?

It's not spam, Doug. If they don't say it's spam, it's not spam. It's unethical, cheap, low-grade, tacky, pointless, and blackhat...BUT IT'S NOT SPAM, GAWDAMMIT!!!!

Oh, OK. If Wall and Boykin say it's not spam, then by gosh; it must not be spam. After all; aren't they the epitome of the SEO industry?

NOT

I first learned of it about 2 years ago. Wow, I didn't know there was anyone that hadn't heard about these before.

Really? You and Doug both hadn't???

Doug and I have heard of them...just not under the "presell pages" name. In other words, the concept but not the euphemism.

Ah, OK.

Yeah, the whole "presell pages" term was coined by Boykin, if I remember correctly. He started the "trend" and then pretty soon, lots of other spammers (erm ... I mean -- people) jumped on that sh*twagon too.

A few years ago some dirtbag approached me and asked us to push some "presell pages" through the directory (when we still had our business profile pages up) and I told them where they could place those pages. :D

Funny, never heard back from the guy after that. Think he was offended?

Well if this surprised you then the SQUEEZE PAGE term just might blow your mind.

I only thought the squeeze pages were used to collect email addresses but now it appears the concept has been applied to affiliate and AdSense pages as some idiot was complaining today about being "Banned from AdSense because of his squeeze pages"

I first learned about "pre sale" pages back in 2000 from Ken Envoy. His use of the term seems to be a little different from what the term has become today.

Ken stressed to his affiliates that if you wanted to be a successful affiliate you had to " pre sale" your visitor. You needed to write unique content about the product you were promoting. You should include your personal testimony about how you had benefited from the product. Your goal was to "pre sell" so if someone clicked your affiliate link they were really interested in the product. In short you would be sending very targeted traffic to Ken's site.

I don't think Boykin coined the phrase. He may have borrowed it.
