What do you charge for search engine optimization? For pay per click advertising and maintenance? How about blog set up and promotion?

The leading search engines, Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft, use crawlers to find pages for their algorithmic search results. Pages that are linked from other search engine indexed pages do not need to be submitted because they are found automatically. Some search engines, notably Yahoo!, operate a paid submission service that guarantee crawling for either a set fee or cost per click. Such programs usually guarantee inclusion in the database, but do not guarantee specific ranking within the search results. Yahoo's paid inclusion program has drawn criticism from advertisers and competitors. Two major directories, the Yahoo Directory and the Open Directory Project both require manual submission and human editorial review. Google offers Google Webmaster Tools, for which an XML Sitemap feed can be created and submitted for free to ensure that all pages are found.

Visit some SEO company and find what they are charging for specific services.

From there you can have a idea of the charges.

Good Lord. They're cross-posting on Yahoo! Answers now? (http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080519181922AAQ0ePU)

Could it be any more obvious that this was a link drop? The "friend" came less than an hour after the original post.

You think these guys would LEARN something by now...

@Adam: it's funny to see people over there giving replies, not realizing they're being spammed :D.

Yeah, but they're all pretty much playing the same game, James. The only thing is that they're trying to get business from a spammer. If they can't recognize a spammer or a spam post, how can they be expected to do any real SEO work on a site?

Exactly.

Hmmm I wonder if they're "spamming the spammer" with their own SEO services? Although to be fair I don't know Yahoo allows blatant self-promotion like that or not.

Yeah, I was looking at post #2 and wondered what it has to do with the original question. Def. a link drop.

I wonder what do you understand by "credible link builders"? Your personal vision?
