mailwasher - fight inbox spam

Hey guys,

Have to share this with you all - seems like a good yet simple program to use to fight spam in your inbox! Chris Sherman wrote about it in yesterday's Search Day newsletter at http://searchenginewatch.com/searchday/searchday.html

I don't notice decrease in spam YET (it's only been a day after all) but I enjoy the idea of bouncing back emails to the spammers as if my email address did not exist! The program looks to be pretty smart. Anyhow, if you're interested, can also go to http://www.mailwasher.net/

I will have to watch if the level of spam decreases, but the program is a nice tool to get rid of spam before you download into your inbox. It shows the sender and subject line without downloading message so you can delete and/or bounce back messages at one time. For now, I think it only works with windows and email software (not web based email).

Does that program have good filters you can set up? Can you create different files and redirect email based on subject, sender, recipient, etc?

In other words, can you do everything you can do with programs like endura, pegasus, and outlook?

Hey Doug,

It does not replace your email client. You open it before you open your email client, get rid of the uglies, and then it will open your defaulted email client. So then your current filters would come into effect. Does that make sense?

I've been using this program for about a month now & it works great! It takes a while for the spammers to eventually remove your email address from their list, but my consistant bouncing has paid off. That's not to say that spammers are gone for good, but it does get them out of your inbox for a while. I highly recommend this program!
