hey chafis, the biggest problem you have is that you do not have your own site. It is Yahoo's site as you cannot edit much and it sits on the Yahoo web site. Your domain is redirecting to a Yahoo store. These types of pages are next to impossible to get ranks of any kind.

Hi Doug thanks for your reply,if you go at google or yahoo, aol, you could see sites and sites with the yahoo store url,so i dont think that is a factor,if i would not see any yahoo servers then you got a point but do a search on these google (yahoo takes from google)you will see a lot of url starting with store.please reply thanks.

That is fine but Not the norm. The only thing you own is your domain. You do not own a web site of your own. You are leasing space and a site from Yahoo.
Do other stores get ranks? Oh sure, if you are lucky. You are asking for how to get Your site ranked and I have no answers for a Yahoo store.
Maybe someone else has experience with Yahoo store's as I do not do them?

My advice is to buy a small hosting package and build a site around your Yahoo store. Make a site that has content and information about what you do. Provide links that go to the Yahoo store for sales. Yahoo stores are very hard to work with. I have managed to get one listed pretty well, but it was a bear and would not recommend it to anyone who is new.

Ok, if you a set on working with just the Yahoo store, then you will need to do the following.
1.) Clean up your description and keywords. They are not very good. Your description should be more info about who you are, not just what is on special this week or this month. Don't change you description every week. If you feel the need to change your description regularly, then do it with PPC listings, not your meta description.
2.)I would work on your title. Unless people are looking for you specifically, they will not find you with the title you have. The title should tell more about what you have. What is the most desired camera that you carry? Use than in your title, it should bring more people.
3.) You need copy on your main page. Right now you have almost nothing. You need to tell everyone on your front page, who, what, where, when, how and why. If you don't, the spiders will not be interested.
4.)Try using an <h1> tag instead of your image logo. Your image is basic text in color. The <h1> tag will do you a huge benefit over the image.
5.) Use more copy and less images across the board. If you want the brand images, that is fine, but make sure you have text also. The page that sticks out is here (http://store.yahoo.com/newyorkcameraexchange/digital-photo-digital-cameras.html). This has not copy and many images. You need these brands in TEXT.
6.) The last thing you will need to do is submit your individual pages to the search engines and directories.
I hope this gives you some help.

hello and thank you for your feedback so lets start with number 1,doesent a discription need to be the products you are supply not so much who and what a company is (maybe i am wrong)
number 2 you say title should be not the company name if you notice only the first page has that title but all the pages have titles about the content on the page,
3)main page ok i will try to fill it up you say with more text
4)can you show me what you mean by h1 i know the first page is the company name
5)i will make the manuf.with text as well ( i think a manuf. logo talks what do you think)

hi chafis,
Glad to see you here in the open forums! You'll do well here.
As to your points:
1 - Your description META tag should contain your keyphrases in a way that will entice searchers to click YOUR link instead of the other links found on the search results page.
2 - Your title tag on your home page is one of THE most important tags for SEO, and unless your company name is VERY well known, it's pretty much a waste of time to put it in there. Instead, put in your keyphrases for that page, and do likewise for all your inside pages.
3 - Most recommend about 250 words of text. Intersperse your keyphrases in this text. Read up in here on how to do that.
4 - Headings come in six sizes ... h1 thru h6 .... and can help boost your rankings if you use keyphrases in them. In addition, they ease the reading of your page for your visitors. Most use a HEADING-PARAGRAPH-HEADING-PARAGRAPH type format. And I don't recommend using too large of a heading, about a 3 or 4 is good. They look like this in your HTML code: <h3>Canon Digital Camera</h3>
5 - Sure .... images add flair to your site .... BUT .... SE's like TEXT. And you can help your site (and users) by using image ALT tags too.

Headings go between your <body></body> tags. Look here (http://www.handyman4u.com/headings.htm) and view the source to see an example.

Well, the whole idea behind the heading sizes is twofold:
From your users point of view, it increases the ease with which they can read your pages; It allows them to quickly "encapsulate" what the whole page offers.
From a purely SEO standpoint, theoretically SE algos give more weight to heading text over regular text, thereby increasing your chances of higher rankings.
Some use CSS to size their heading text. I believe you can find some more info on this somewhere in these forums.
Oh, and I forgot to say you're welcome in my last post.

hey chafis,
Welcome to the forums! I have a yahoo storefront also and have overcome some of the search engine difficulties that revolve around it. You should go into the site manager and in the search engines area make sure that everything is unchecked, this will mess you up with google. Yahoo creates multiple URL's for everypage that you have on your site, they do this because the storefronts are searched and used by yahoo in their shopping area as well as by other search engines so for some internal reasons they create all these different url's. You don't want yahoo store to submit your url's because google will think you have mirror sites and will penalize you. You need to have google crawl by linking to your site. You should be OK if you can accomplish this.
As for other search engines I think you should be fine, I have not experienced many other problems. Follow all the good advice that you are getting in the preceding posts and you should be on your way to excellent rankings. Good Luck.

If you don't want to uncheck all of them, you should at least unckeck google. Let google find your site through the quality links from other sites that you should be actively persuing. When google is checked in this section yahoo will be submitting 3 url's for every single page in your site. This will cause google to think that you have mirror sites to trick the engines and get in multiple times with the same site.
Yahoo says that if you have bought a url and assigned it to your storefront you can choose the option that says it will only submit the root url that you have assigned and not the other ones, i.e. store.yahoo.com/yoursite , shop.store.yahoo.com/yoursite , and probably some other ones. You don't want these to get into google or you will have problems getting a decent ranking with google which is one of the most important engines to place well in (in my opinion).

ok i took your word and i UNCHECKED google,so now i just have a yahoo store with our DOMAIN name BTY yahoo said they will only submit a domain name if its hosted with yahoo otherwise they will not ,do you think we should still UNCHECK it?and last when you said quality links you mean links to our yahoo store correct?please reply thanks.

what I meant was that you really don't need to have yahoo submit your url to google. There is really not point to do this because googlebot crawl over webpages following links from site to site. You don't need to submit to google if you have links from other reputable sites like yahoo, dmoz and other camera sites that you might know. Google will find and index you if other sites that are indexed link to you. Quality links means that you shouldn't try to get links from sites that are "link farms" or other sites that serve no useful purpose besides having links out to thousands of sites. This is what has worked for me as my site has moved up to a 5th position for my chosen key word when I use to be down around 50th position. I moved up because I did not allow yahoo to submit multiple mirror url's for my site to google.
