Why should I get an SSL Certificate when my hosting provider has a shared one? Where can I obtain a private SSL certificate for my website?

You can probably get one at www.cross-posted-spam-for-ssl-cert-company-none-of-us-have-ever-heard-of.biz (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1T4GGLL_en&q=%22Why+should+I+get+an+SSL+Certificate+when+my+hosting+provider+has+a+shared+one%3F+Where+can+I+obtain+a+private+SSL+certificate+for+my+website%3F%22).

Waiting on the tag team link drop... Surely, another username will come to the rescue and post a link to THE best place on the planet to get a SSL cert.

Well, it looks like the TTLD is from SSLStar dot com. So I'm going to guess that's where it comes from now. And of course they'll provide the best SSL Solutions (http://www.comodo.com). ;)
(Note: that's a legit SSL provider, in case anyone's wondering.)

Thawte is pretty good too.

They're all pretty much the same, actually...at least the major cert issuers. The only difference is cost, and in one case whether or not you get it in the rear end from Netjerk Slowlutions.

In reality I doubt the average shopper would know whether you were using your own cert or not.
I do think anyone who is serious about e-commerce should have their own cert. A cert is not that expensive anymore.
