Ah-ha is rolling out another new program. We are already happy with "Logo Links" and really enjoy the fact that Ah-ha is coming up with new and better ways to do things. We have one of our other businesses signed up for the new program and will post feedback on how the beta test goes. Here is some info on the program:
"Are you ready to take the advantage over your competitors...
You have been selected to participate as a beta tester for Advantage Listings, a new ah-ha.com product. Advantage Listings allows you to receive a significant amount of additional traffic by selecting popular keyword phrases relevant to your site. You simply select a keyword phrase, and you start to see a higher quantity of relevant traffic to your site.
Example: Your keyword phrase is 'story books'. When the person
searching for story books types in 'story books for my kids', your
listing appears. Another person searching for story books might type in 'fun story books', and your listing appears.
BENEFITS
Advantage Listings allows you to
· maximize your reach to your target audiences.
· have one of the few listing with a LogoLink on many pages.
· manage a smaller amount of listings.
· take advantage of thousands of queries that go to pages without any of your competitors' results.

ah-ha.com Announces Plan to Extend New 'Advantage Listings' Program to Clients
Advantage Listings program to offer clients enhanced targeting ability
Provo, UT- ah-ha.com, Inc. today announced that a new bidding program will be extended to all ah-ha.com advertising clients. The program, Advantage Listings, is designed to enhance the targeting ability of ah-ha.com advertising clients.
The new program allows clients to bid on phrases of two or more words. Whenever any search query includes an Advantage Listings phrase, the client's listing will appear.
With Advantage Listings, clients don't have to think of every possible variation on relevant terms. ah-ha.com COO Jay Bean said the new feature "will save clients valuable time while increasing targeted traffic to their sites."
ah-ha.com will beta-test the new program through April and expects to offer the program as a bidding feature within the client account management system by May.
Previously ah-ha.com's LogoLink banners were only available on its home site and a handful of partner sites.
"Our clients should get much wider exposure through this new distribution method," said Bob Barnes, Vice President of Distribution for ah-ha.com.
"Upcoming partnerships will extend our reach to over 60 million monthly users," said Barnes. "This is a huge jump for us."

hmmm. That is exactly how Google Adwords works right now. The big problem with that is advertisers receive clicks from Many different possibilities of search terms. I know many who use Google adwords and put in search terms such as this:
"keyword phrase"
in between quotes so they do not get all the combinations involved with Not putting the phrase between quotes. Personally, I don't see the benefit of ALL the combos of phrases as it only serves to drive up your clicks and costs.

It has to be though out carefully and monitored closely. We selected 15 keywords out of 600 for the beta test.

The ah-ha program is actually an exact match type of program. If your keyword is "keyword phrase", it will include phrases containing that exact grouping of the words and not a fuzzy logic (i.e. 'help me with keyword phrases').
Google actually offers a fuzzy logic that matches all phrases that have the two words somewhere in the search (i.e. 'help me find phrases for my keywords'). They also have a more exact matching of phrases, but the ah-ha Advantage Search Listings program has been used for the past year. It is being piloted for launch to all of its customers in order to provide the best interface and incoporate suggestions from clients.

We are getting surprisingly little traffic on some pretty generic keywords and have not seen an increase in sales. We do pretty good with our regular listings, so I am surprised that we haven't spent a great deal of money with our experiment.

Found out the reason for low clickthrough is that although we are "#1" for the keywords in the new program, we are not necessarily bidding high enough to be #1 in the engine. I made some suggestions to them for interface improvement and given Ah-ha's track record they will deliver. I like the idea of being able to individually select keywords to encompass broader searches.
