There seems to be gramatical problem here:
http://listings.looksmart.com/top_pop.jhtml?page=help/LegacyFaq
Under:
"What if I don't want to be upgraded to a Small Business Listing?"
there is a sentence that reads:
"Previous customers may also chose to cancel their listings altogether."
Based on the grammer it looks like the customers have already chosen. Based on the response on at least 6 forums, I would say LookSmart made a true statement.
Now let's see if they 'choose' to fix it.

Another quotation from LookSmart Small Business Listing FAQ:
"What are the details of this special offer you're giving me?
As a previous customer, your listing has been automatically upgraded to a Small Business Listing. And because we want to ensure that your listing continues to be a valuable marketing investment, LookSmart will give you $300 worth of free clicks to apply to your Small Business Listing account. "
They are saying the $300 worth of free clicks is a bonus and is separate from the upgrade. What exactly is the upgrade then?

Under:
"What are the details of this special offer you're giving me?"
it says:
"Once you've activated your account, you may cancel you listings at any time. "
Does this look smart to you?

Under:
"What if I don't use all my free clicks each month?"
It says:
"You account will then be "refilled" to the original number of free clicks that you were credited with at the beginning of the month."
I'm starting to think they may need our help after all!!!

And I would love to hear what FAQ's you may add to the page.
Here are a couple of mine:
1. What makes this an upgrade?
2. I just purchased the Basic Submit service. Now you have changed the program. What should I do now?
3. Is the reason you can't give me a refund because you are in debt and can't afford it?

The answer to your question of the thread:
Is Looksmart Watching?
Answer is; of course they are.
The question then becomes:
Are they going to do something about this?
Answer is; I don't know.
Yeah, 300 clicks a month might be just fine if you have one or a couple of url's in your account. NOT so fine if you have tens of url's in your account.
Question:
Will I EVER activate to receive the measely 300 clicks for the total account?
Answer is:
H E L L NO. It certainly ain't worth it for me.
Question:
Will I simply let all my url's cancel after July 10th?
Answer is:
H E L L YES.

I've sent news of this story to the N.Y Times. Hopefully they will run with it. The email was entitled: "Former dot.com darling, Looksmart Ltd, outrages customer base"
I would encourage those who wish to do so to send similar "breaking news" reports to every newspaper you can think of. I stuck to the facts: i.e Looksmart have caused outrage with recent changes.

Yes. Very good. Think I'll drop a word to the guy with MSNBC. :)
A 'word' has been sent to my contact at MSNBC.
