I've been online since 1994, and I'm embarassed to say that this is my first foray into website design. This is a professional coaching site, and is far from finished. (I haven't moved it to it's permanent domain yet, though it's reserved.)

I would greatly appreacite some feedback as to the overall design, ease of reading, and logical layout.

Even though I'm new at this, please fire away. I'll only learn via constructive criticism.

Here's the site:

Thanks!!

Welcome to the forums Mike! :hi:

sheesh, sorry as I did not see this until now. :) Looks like no one else did either.

For your first site, very impressive! I don't see anything wrong right off, but I would get your own domain name.

Well Mike,

I'm with Doug. You have done a GREAT job, and achieved your goals.... the design looks great, layout is logical, and everything is legible.

Now you need to read up in here on how to get it ranked well in the search engines, so that when you transfer it to it's own server under it's own domain name, you'll be ready (although I suspect you are already doing that :) ).

And welcome to the forums! :hi:

Welcome Mike! :hi:

Im with Doug and Blue, easy to understand - easy to read - easy to navigate. Overall easy.

Maybe one thing that i noticed. The first page contain much information and you have to scroll down. Try to keep it short and clear on the first page. If they are interested they will surf the rest of the site otherwise they get a quick introduction and maybe want to know more.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement everyone. I appreciate it.

Doug, I have a pair of domain names parked for this site when it's finished. I just don't want to pay hosting fees until it's much closer to being ready.

I have reserved lifebalanceinstitute.com and mike-long.com (among others...too many projects at once. ;-) ). I feel very lucky to have gotten the latter, as it is a VERY common name. :-)

I'd appreciate any thoughts anyone might have on the best way to use these two names. Should I use my own name for the current site, have one name point to the other, or create two totally different sites?

I'm leaning towards the last option, making mike-long.com a bit more personal, but with a sales/consulting/written thoughts slant as well.

As always, I greatly appreciate any of your thoughts.

Thanks a million for the help.

Mike
