Recently (May14) my looksmart listing received all of the FREE 100 clicks, few days later my site was removed from the directory. I have to play LS ***** game or forget good traffic from MSN search. After forking over some dough to get back into the game this is what has changed to my listing and I was just wonderin if anybody else can relate.
Prior to May14 a search at MSN would display any single keyword used within my sites description, after MAY14 and being used and abused for my 100 FREE clicks an unknown deception is now occuring!
A combination of two or more keywords must be used for the MSN search to display my listing. This is got to be worth a kick in the pants to whoever makes this happen.
Why I ask>?
Has MSN and LS created the almighty strenghtened search wizard.
All searches to benefit the ADV must be in the form of an phrase ?

Don't have a clue micros. I have not paid a dime to LS so I can't help you with the different results.

Perhaps they're trying to be more targeted since everyone's complained about ranking high for words that are too general.
Aren't the one-word keywords too general for your site? Do they have good conversions for you? It sounds like they're actually trying to do you a favor since you're one of the few who will actually give them any money.

The one-word keywords (trademarked products) are what keeps my business going and afloat. I'm so frig'n mad at LS I could run amuck and dismember them limb from limb piece by piece wire by wire electron by electron and atom by atom.

There has been a major change to the way that MSN serves directory listings - and I still can't get a handle on it. Every time I think I've got it worked out, I find one that messes the rules up. For example I have a car hire site with 'car hire' in the title, URL and description which doesn't appear anywhere for the term 'car hire'! It does appear for UK car hire though!
On another note, L$ PPC codes seem to have been removed from all INK paid listings (again) and have been out for 3 days now - I'm keeping my eyes on it :)
INK seems to have done a major update over the weekend - I'm now #4 for 'search engine optimization' - up 16 places on AOL -with a lot of unpaid internal pages showing up on searches.

WTG, Barry! Hopefully, LS was feeling the heat and decided it perhaps wasn't the smartest idea to steal Inktomi traffic. Somehow, I doubt it was their idea to "fix" it, however. (IMO)

micros,
I too, have been trying to figure the keyword thing with LS/MSN.
Last month when this all started my 100 clicks were used up in alittle over a week. This month since I have be reinstated on 5/20, I have only had 2 clicks. I have not updated my listing with their relevency keywords, but might have to if I want any traffic it seems. Last month all single words in my title & decription were used for keywords, but no so anymore.
I have also been trying to figure out what they are doing, and it seems to me that it has to be a 2 to 3 word phrase that appears in exact sequence in your title or decription. I don't know what will happen if you add relevency keywords.
In the keyword relevency suggustions it states that you can't use any keyword more than once. We offer a hunting guide service in Kansas, with desired keyword phrases Kansas deer hunting, Kansas pheasant hunting, Kansas deer hunts, deer hunting guides, deer hunting Kansas, Kansas whitetail hunts, Kansas turkey hunting, Kansas hunting outfitters, etc. There is no way to add relevence keyword phrases without repeating.
Anyone else come up with how LS/MSN is pulling up searches?
Cheers!

So now the new billing cycle has begun, and yet my sites are suddenly not showing like they used to. Could it be that perhaps LS realizes I won't pay them so there's no reason to let mine show? Gee...how surprising...NOT.

jody,
LS relevency keywords - are a total downer, I have them included in my listing but do I get any traffic from them - absolutely not!
My interest in LS is for the sole reason MSN search, the only way I see to work around this is to: fork out $49 for another listing and create an sub domain with an different url. With the new url include all the keywords directly within it, whats an url worth these days $10 and you have at least 60 characters to create a top notch marketing machine.
So for $59 I could get tons of traffic from MSN for $0.15 per click.
To do this same campaign with overture formerly goto would cost me at least 0.50 per click at 200 clicks a day???
LS still has its leverage. but for how long is the question?

Don't forget the $150 minimum you have to put in your account, with or without clicks. So it's not $49, it's nearly $200.

I believe in the LS FAQ's, they have an comparison between new ADV listings fees which as you said is $49 plus the $150 minimum, and already listed ADV which is just the $49 setup fee and a minimum monthly of $15$.
