I dislike getting the same things in my inbox all the time. This software is tauted simply TOOOOO much.
I did try it awhile ago. It said my main site's home page was full of "needs fixing" type things. BULL S**t, is what I say to that. Why do I have top ten ranks on many engines on many keyword phrases across the board then? This software is crap, IMO.
Any software that tries to tell you what to do is crap.

Aw, c'mon now Doug, just say what you really think.
Most SEO software is irredemably irredemable. The GRSEO thingy is no exception. However, I rather like their keyword density software (GRKDA). I don't really pay much attention to analysing keyword density of competitors or my own sites in the long run - it becomes less important after a while. But I do use this software when writing new pages.
Oh - off topic I know - but do any other SEOs write all their content for their clients sites ?

Well, not actually write since they usually already have some content. Just re-word/re-arrange things. Some you have to do more than others depending on how well they are targeting their keyword phrases, etc.

We pretty much write the pages we optimize. It's kind of our unique selling proposition. I used to edit some sites if they had enough text, but lately I prefer to just take clients that are willing to have us rewrite. That way we know they will get good rankings, plus they'll get all the other great marketing stuff that Heather throws into the writing.
Of course, this makes for a harder sell because ALL clients think their writing (or lack thereof) is perfect. Trying to convince them of the necessity of this is the hardest part of what we do.

You know I have thought about that webwhiz. That would be extremely hard to do since many times it is hard to simply re-arrange words or add words to the content if they already have it.
You are right, they love what they write. Of course, if I had a writer as you do, this would be an easier sell, but then, my price would go way up also.
Oh so many decisions we have to make all the time. :)

I don't know how anyone can do search engine optimization without having a writer. I've always done it that way. I've used various writers through the years, but always used someone! Yes, there were sites that I didn't totally rewrite and I did the editing myself, but these days, those kinds of sites are nearly non-existent. Do you teach the staff writers how to write for the search engines? I can't imagine how you can get good rankings by just editing!

Jill, I simply work my magic and the ranks simply come. Just as simple as that, quite simply.
It is amazing what can happen with a little tweak here and a little tweak there; here a tweak; there a tweak; everywhere a tweak-tweak.....

Oh yeah...and it is one of the reasons why our prices are so high. Good seo writing doesn't come cheaply these days!

Hey Doug,
Do you have any client positioning reports available for people to see? Or are those top secret? Just curious!

NOPE. But you can email any one of them if you wish to ask? That is all strictly up to the client on whether they want that info given out.

How do I know who they are? Do you have a list somewhere? (I'm not gonna email them...don't worry!)
By the way, has your newsletter been going out still. I haven't received one in awhile. I set up some heavy duty spam filters and it's possible it could have gotten caught up in those, if you have been sending them. Been awhile since I received one.

Some are on the testimonials page. You can email them if you wish.
No, I am starting again on Tuesday after being down for one month. No excuse, but just been busy and I am the editor. ;)

Cool...just wanted to make sure I didn't filter you out! I have gotten brazen with my filters (and they're at the server level). So if you happened to use a spam line such as, "to be removed from this mailing" I wouldn't get it!
It's interesting how only spammers use those lines (theoretically). But I do get nervous when mail is slow that I be deleting all sorts of important things!

I've actually found the opposite of what Jill was saying. Clients are often all-too pleased that someone else will take care of the writing. I like to get all the info on a company I can - corporate brochures, press releases, client letters/testimonials, as well as talking to the principals and asking dumb questions. This way I can better target what potential clients/customers will really be searching for. It also means I can create readable, jargon-light content.
However I always try to get in on the ground floor of a project, rather than changing an existing site. My old web design site is still up and brings me a few leads and I have partnerships with several local and national web design companies who are willing to pass on leads to me and work on a partnership basis. Once I get past the question of 'what the hell do you know about change management strategies ?' or whatever it is, it usually works out best this way.
This is also my Unique Selling Proposition.

You're right, Mark. If you come in on a project at the design phase, they are only too happy to have you put together the copy for them. But most of our clients now have already put together web sites and have it the way they want it. Unfortunately, when they built it, their designer had no clue about search engine optimization (nor did their writer). So these companies are not thrilled to hear all the changes that will be necessary to get good rankings. It's getting to the point now where I have to think about offering them the option of JUST doing a directory submittal (since you don't have to change the site for those).
