If a site is dynamic, is it okay to create static pages that will then have links to the site and internal pages? Or is this creating pages to fool the se's?

I believe you'd be okay if you create a sitemap to your dynamic pages, and place this right off the main page. Most of the engines can follow dynamic links these days, but the problem is they have to know how to find them.
Good luck!

Only FAST fully and properly indexes dynamic sites without help. Google can do so, but you certainly notice the difference immediately if you change dynamic URLs for static-seeming ones.
With Google, I advise either removing query strings from the URLs (always a good move), or at the very least, create a static site-map. Googlebot seems to crawl dynamic links from a static URL much more readily than from a dynamic page. This makes sense, as it prevents the risk of Googlebot getting caught in an 'endless site' of dynamically generated links and content.
I somewhat sub-specialise in working with very large dynamic sites, so this is an area of some expertise for me.

By dynamic sites, we are *really* talking about sites which use query strings in the URL. We should differentiate between having a dynamic site and one that uses query strings (that are obviously dynamic). It is possible to have a dynamic site without the use of query strings...and most engines have no problem indexing and/or reading these pages.
So, it may be a bit misleading to say dynamic sites can have problems getting indexed, when it's really only those dynamic sites that leverage query string parameters!~ ;)

Yes, the prodigal Junior returns. :hi:
I try to talk about dynamic content (content generated on the fly) and dynamic URLs (URLs that contain a query string), not dynamic sites (which can mean either or both dynamic content and dynamic URLs). So seowheel's original question would read:If a site uses dynamic URLs, is it okay to create pages with static URLs that will then have links to the dynamic URLs? Or is this creating pages to fool the se's?
