What is the easiest/best way to check to see if a url is in the directory? What is the easiest way to see which category that url is in?

Hi Doug,
The best way to check for your site is to perform a search for the domain, while leaving off the www and .com stuff. At least, right now the settings are like that.
For example, if your site was http://www.motorflug.com/ you would just seach for "motorflug". The topic the site is in will be found on the SERP just below the listing.
Doug, your forums are going to be a different story since it is a sub-page. Your site I found by searching for 'search engine forums'. We may have to come up with a better way on that...hmm...
If one is a guide, the person has access to a 'Url Search' that isn't on the public side. The url search is nice since all you have to do is enter in the main domain, and any instances of the requested site will be returned with the topic the site is in. That includes searching the pending sites, etc.

Have these settings changed? Cos if I do this for sites that I can see are already included, I get the message that there are no Category matches or web site matches.

Your example of 'motorflug' seems to work cos the site has Motorflug in its title.
Try 'carolsfloraldesigns' - it's listed under http://www.goguides.org/index.php/viewCat/11199 but will not show up if you enter just the domain name without the www and the com.

hello! Is there any way of checking if a domain has made it into your directory as the method described above seems to work only if the title is also the domain name.

Hi polarmate,
I'll have to check with the programming team on what's turned on on the public side at the moment. I know there are some new features being worked on. I hadn't tried from the public side in a long time. I found it fine under floral design, but I'll get back to you on the other when I find out.

Thanks!!:)
And... just to clarify - carolsfloraldesigns was just an example - it's not one of my sites.

Yes, we have to have a way to know if a site is in or not. Right now, I can't find a way to check this.

Apparently my website has been removed since I am no longer a go guide....I searched for starlightastrology and was told...no cat match.
Did I search for it wrong?
Ann
Edit:
Just checked again and my other site, starlightnumerology was also not in?????????
What gives? I even have your search box on my website???

Thanks,
I will go back now and look for the astrology site.
Edit:
Nope, I am still not in there......Why?????
I'm sorry I couldn't continue working with you all but I simply did not have the time...is that any reason to penalize my website?

Hi ann
Your in the database but had fallen victim to some reorganization of topics and hadn't been re-reviewed yet.
Your site can currently be found here:
TOP > Society & Culture > Paranormal Phenomena > Divination > Astrology

Someone seems a little edgy.
Why not try waiting until you get all the facts before making accusations?

Okay, the kinks are still being worked out, but GoGuides.Org has added a tool for a status check by url. It can currently be found on the main page. Please note that when trying it, that the url must be exactly as it may be in the directory. Meaning, if it has a trailing /, make sure it is in your query. If it doesn't, do not add one, etc...
Hope it helps and thanks for waiting!!!
