I just did a search for single keywords on the MSN search site and Im seeing results from the looksmart directory listings descriptions!

Over a month ago MSN changed the relevancy results to only two keywords within the LS description to show up on a search at MSN.

I will have to try my luck and see if this finally works for my site.

many people were complaining of excessive clicks do to this issue, but for me this could be the best news I've herd since payday.

I need the single terms in my description to be found and searchable on MSN otherwise overture is the only option, but paying $1.80 per client is ...
ABSOLUTE
crazy man

Nice find Micros!

I see that MSN search results for:

Search engine optimization guide
Optimization guide
optimization

produce quite similar results.

One day left until the new billing cycle is to begin and results on MSN Search have changed again!

Now a single word search on MSN will not show results from LS listings descriptions, it must be a combination of words included in the description. I really upset at this system. It lacks consistency and ability.

Anybody recently ever been approved for an LS listing using a subdomain (ie http://the.ringer.com) or a better way to put it maybe: http://ringer.com/the ???

Probably MSN is behind the changing algorithms, not Looksmart, don't you think? they can pretty much do as they please.

Yes, you are probably right, so why does Looksmart charge to send in keyphrases since they don't have anything to do with the algos?

I don't know. I would think they were associated in some way with the algorithms, but I'm not sure (I doubt MSN would give away that info!) I think keywords are included in a regular submission, not sure what you mean by "charge?"

No. You have to pay $49 to Looksmart if you want keyphrases included in the submission. Then, if you want to change them later or change the description or anything else for that matter, you pay $49 as well.

hmmm- seems like they've changed that recently then. look at their submissions page now:

http://listings.looksmart.com/submit/

seems like keywords are included, but who knows.

Yes you do have to pay $49 to update your listing (add keywords, change description, title, etc)...they also charge $39 to add your listing to another category...

However, i have not found any of this information on their site prior to logging into my already existing account and pulling up my listings...

But when you set up a new account, they allow you to list keywords you feel are the best ones for your site (although they do not guarantee you will be found for those keywords)

thanks MS - I thought we were referring to new submissions only.
