Here are my questions regarding this search engine in Australia if anyone can answer them.

1. Is it really true that 90% of Australians use NineMSN to search through Australian content?

2. Is NineMSN powered by InkTomi?

3. Can you get listed on NineMSN without paying there ridiculous listing price?

Ninemsn is powered by a mixture of LookSmart and Inktomi. The Web Directory Sites are from LookSmart and the Web Pages are from Inktomi.

I don't know whether I'd say 90% of Australians use Ninemsn - most of the ones I talk to use Google. It is still an important search engine particularly as it's the one IE defaults to for Australian users.

As for getting in for free. If you have some valuable information on your site you may want to try submitting to Zeal. This is the free arm of LookSmart. As far as Ink goes if you have a good site with plenty of sites linking to you you may get picked up over time. If you want to get in fast you'll need to pay Ink.
