Hi All:

According to a report in the Market Position newletter Yahoo has recently been rejecting sites whose URL exceeds 54 characters (not including the .com) although Internic allows up to 63 characters and previously Yahoo was allowing 59 characters.

All of you who have long domain names take heed when submitting to Yahoo.

Oh no, most of my URLs are a mile long.

Take this one as an example.
http://www.everythingusb.com/hardware/index/Logitech_Cordless_MouseMan_Optical_user_reviews.htm

This URL far exceeds the 54-character limit.

Hi USBnuts:

I think what this article refers to is that portion of the URL to the left of the .com or .net.

Here is the LINK (http://www.webposition.com/mp-current.htm) FYI

Are they saying this as a fact? DId Yahoo actually write this as a fact? Kind of hard to believe.

Hi Doug:
This report did not come directly from Yahoo, but from the Market postion newsletter and can be read at the link above.

It is known that some versions of Netscape cannot open pages residing on domains over 59 characters in length, and so this does not appear unreasonable.
