Greetings!

I read on these forums that it is good to have meta description and keyword tags on every unique page. In order to get better SE ranking, I have added these meta tags on each of my pages. However, the keyword and description tags are not unique to each page of the website (they are exactly the same for each).

The primary keyword that I am concerned with is "pirates" - my question is whether I should worry that my meta tags are not unique for each page if I want to hit this search term?

My site http://www.pirates.cc

If you are wondering why there is a big H2 Pirates title at the top of each page -- I read somewhere that engines rank you higher if you have the search term in H2 near the top of the page! Any thoughts on this?

If anyone has any general (harsh critique is good!) thoughts about this website, they would also be much appreciated!

Thanks for the great info on these forums!

Welcome to the forums Krzys! :hi:

You must be careful about everything to do with 'optimizing'. NO tricks are the key.

Every page should have a unique 'title tag' definitely. The other tags are not that important but each page should target a different phrase/phrases. You have many more terms to target other than simply 'pirates'. Use www.wordtracker.com to find them.

I would not make that h tag so obvious where it is. Put it in the place where it belongs as a 'header' of a paragraph.

Thanks for input. I think the H2 is too obvious, I may end up scrapping that (it doesn't look too great anyway!).

That website is useful, thanks for the tip!

Thanks again!

A style sheet could be used to alter the appearance of H2 tags...;)

Haha, that is really an awesome trick! Excellent!

Although, tricks may not be good if a SE can catch them.
Though I doubt that they will be so sophisticated. I hope :)

I've read that engines penalize you if you make your text white.. but would the SE engineers sacrifice so much CPU power to check all that is needed in order to check for this stylesheet trick? I doubt it.

Anyway, I think I might try it out... I will let you guys know if I am kicked off the engines :)

Thanks!

I wasn't suggesting tricks, as much as reducing the size and or enhancing the appearance to the user!~ :eyes:
