Just in case anyone is interested, I have put together a small search engine of UK specific sites which I am marketing hard. It may not deliver you as much traffic as Google but I'm hoping it will add some value to every site that's on there so please feel free to come along and submit your site.
All sites are reviewed and if appropriate, added within 24 hours.

http://search.gb.com/ returns an error page. Where is your directory? :)

Would anyone be interested in adding their links.
I really want this engine to start working for me.

Yeh, but you've forgot to mention that you require a link back. I can understand why you would request that, but imagine if every search engine demanded you link back to them before you were listed...
Good luck.

At this stage in our development it's crucial to build inbound links. It's good for everyone who requests a link as they are assured that every other link relates to someone directing traffic back to us.
That means overall, anything you submit has a good target audience. I'd say that's worth it.

I really do wish you success - but I will not put any site I control into your SE. Why should I? You provide no traffic and how could I persuade some of my clients to link back to you. The link back strategy is the first step to little growth. Major sites will ignore you and so will surfers.
Build your reputation by getting sites to recommend you because you are a good resource - that means listing quality sites initially to prove that you have good listings.
One of my clients is a major department in UK Central Government - do you honestly expect them to give a link to you :)
I also see you are an Espotting PPC affiliate - I'm even less impressed - I'm already in there - this is just another wannabe wanting to make PPC affiliate money. Want a link? Not a chance!

What I love about you 'Make me top' is you always have time to sneer at me, whichever forum I go to.
You have a point to make, fine, but please don't take a tone with me as it makes you appear obnoxious.
If I'm so bad at promotion, how come my web design site and my domain site both have a Google page rank of 6 whilst you have a Page Rank of 5
I might be getting petty now, but I find your put-downs really offensive at times.

I agree, drop the return link strategy, build a good solid index, then you will natually attract good inbound links... good luck with it, if you decide on dropping the link thing then post again ;)

What - moi? :)
I happen to very proud of my PR5 - I spent a year at PR0 - and before that was banned. Before that I was PR7 - such is life.
>you always have time to sneer at me
I don't even know (or care) who you are - let alone look out for your posts on any other forums. They must all be along the lines of this sort of self-promotion to gain PPC revenue or I wouldn't have commented.
'nuff said - nothing more from me to you on this forum.
