I haven't made my mind up yet on this one. I'm working with another webmaster, who is trying to promote a site at the request of one of his customers. I emphasized the importance of incoming links and he recommended we use AddWeb:
http://www.addweb.com/products/addweb/
I spoke with the people from AddWeb and they assured me that we could be very selective on who we choose to trade links with.

I've always been a fan of hand submission and for my biggest site, I have as good a PageRank as AddWeb does. I would love to here from supporters as well as Naysayers to help me advise the other webmaster.

One final point: The other webmaster feels that the customer won't be willing to pay for the time involved in hand submission.

I'm going to email a copy of this thread to Bob so he can observe your answers.

That's just another automated submitter thing that thinks it's an optimizer as well. The link thing is automated too and I would Not recommend it at all.

Notice it submits to "thousands" of search engines? LOL

David, not tooting my own horn, but why don't you just use a submission company like mine? Doug has used it and can tell you it's legit. Mel, and BigBlock have used it too.

OK, I will look into it, but I can't seem to get through to your site right now. I assume you are saying you have product that helps find other legitimate sites that will link to yours.

Yes, Deb uses legit engines and not a bunch of ffa and classified ad sites like addweb uses.

I would not recommend auto submission to the major engines however. Actually, I don't recommend EVER submitting to the major crawler engines. I never have to anyway.

No, David, I have a submission company that submits to niche-market SE's and some majors. So the link is in a category that's on topic for your clients products.

Right now my webhost (cyberwings.com) is suffering a bandwidth issue and is looking for another NOC to co-locate. I am hoping they will get this resolved real soo.

Yes, I've checked a few times in the last couple of days to no avail, but I'll be sure to keep checking. Thanks for the update.

They found a new NOC in Virginia. The date for live is Saturday/with Sunday at the latest.

I will be very happy to get the sites back up again!

Deborah:

Do you handle foreign search engines? I got a customer who's looking for help with European SEs, and I'm "less than fully informed" on the subject.

Hi Dan0,

Yes, I do handle foreign search engine submission. Right now the submissions go through about 221 countries.

The SE's that are used are foreign but in English. There are a few that are in their native language of Spanish, German, French, and Japanese.
