I didn't know surfers do searches on 'USB 2' thousand times more than 'USB 2.0' everyday until now. for years, I have been optimiznig for 'USB 2.0'.
i'm such a dork. sigh.

You are not a "dork". You need to remember that you know your product better than those searching for it. This makes it hard to figure out what people are searching for. It is especially hard when you are dealing with 2.0 or 2.

I am not sure about that usbnuts. Wordtracker shows an entirely different opinion.
USB 2 = 22 searches a day.
usb 2 = 48 a day
USB 2.0 = 116 a day
usb 2.0 = 204 a day
There is a big difference and actually you are better off to optimize for lower case.
oops, wait a minute... this is for the USA side of things. Where you are could be different.

wordtracker will put in the info for the UK in the next few months.
Our UK members will have better input on this. I would think the figures would not be all that different.

I wouldn't have thought so either in this particular case.
The big difference will come in searces such as "UK cow breeders" or "warwickshire cow breeders", for a very poor example.

Hey USbnuts
don't consider yourself a dork just because you are more familiar with your product than your customers are. This is a very common problem in SEO - I suspect that almost the only people who search on "search engine optimization" are SEO companies, while their customers are more likely to search for terms like "higher ranking" or "URL submit"
Here is a LINK (http://search-engine-optmization.ecommercehosts.com/keywords.htm) to a page with a discussion of this problem.
