Hi Supine:

You must submit manually to all directories and also to AltaVista, but its not a bad idea to submit at least your home page to each of the major engines and those local or specialty search engines which interest you.

You can view my suggestions HERE (http://search-engine-optimization.ecommercehosts.com/se_data.htm) for data on the major SEs, how to submit to them etc.

Hope this is what you need, if not ask again.

HI Supine:

I am not sure if that SE chart is up to date given the recent changes in partnering among SEs. If you download the file and view it in PDF format it should be clear and full page size.

The information on the link I gave you contains information current as of two weeks ago, but it takes a bit of digging to find it all.

Hi Supine:
Glad to be of help.

You might want to look through some of the other threads in this forum for advice on the topic of which SEs to submit to and when.

One of our favorite strategies here is just to make a paid submission to Looksmart (yes I know the fee really smarts) then sit back and let the major search engines find you.

A free submission to DMOZ is always good also, and if you can convince an About.com editor to accept your site that will do you some good also.
