Altavista thumbnails

I know, AV is not the most important Search index, however,

can anyone tell me please why some urls in the AV index are displayed with thumbnails of the respective pages and some others are not?

As you may imagine, mine are without thumbnails ... did my competitors pay for the thumbnails or is it an AV feature depending on anything I do not know of?

...it is a listing enhancement in which you need to use their Express Inclusion inorder to be able to have your logo/icon displayed...

Actually not necessarily. I have a few listings that display a small pic and I have not paid for any listing enhancements. I've never known why they were singled out.

Perhaps they do a few like this for free to get others to pay...
