Hi,
What search engines does Find What power? Apparently their partners keep on changing so I don't know where to look for the most recent list.
Thanks!

Well they've just signed a deal with Terra Lycos to provide results to Lycos and HotBot from the end of August. Read the press release here (http://www.terralycos.com/press/pr_08_12e_02.html)

Hi Kal,
Thanks for your reply.
Would you also know the estimated number of visitors for FindWhat?

FindWhat is not 'powering' the Lycos Insite Ad Buyer program. They are providing the technological platform to give Lycos the ability to do it themselves. Lycos' program is completely separate from that of Findwhat. You will have to buy and manage your listings directly at Lycos.

Aren't they still supposed to be one of the big five ppcses?
Their site is certainly more professional-looking than most ppcses out there.

Well, they are a publicly traded company.
But without major partners to show their listings with, what good is any PPC company? Seems like if they had some good ones, they'd be yelling about it on their site. I looked everywhere, and couldn't find anything.

They have a press release on their site
http://findwhat.com/content/pressrelease.asp?a=87
Sept 2002...FindWhat.com and its private-label partners such as Terra Lycos's Lycos.com and HotBot distribute to tens of millions of Internet users. The FindWhat.com network includes hundreds of distribution partners, such as CNET's Search.com, Excite, Webcrawler, NBCi, MetaCrawler, Dogpile, and Go2Net.
We've been getting some traffic and a few conversions from our ppc ads on FindWhat. Nothing to write home about but conversions nevertheless.

FW's stock has been in the news lately, due to investor interest as an alternative to Overture. Media reports have FW touting their 200 or so smaller SE partners, so they don't rely on one big one (a slam at Overture's dependence on Yahoo's searchers).
I find that argument hard to track, though. If you're spending a client's money for consumer-directed PPC advertising and need to show ROI, why go to a market with fewer consumers, unless the client can only afford the "cheap seats"?
We invested heavily in FW PPC for one client over Christmas holidays. Were able to get many phrases cheaper than Overture, and received significant traffic for some phrases. Overall, though, the client wasn't pleased with resulting sales.
In future, we'll probably use FW and other second-tier PPC services only if a client is spending all money possible on Overture and Google AdWords, but wants further coverage.

Hard to imagine why results were not better, especially since FindWhat uses such quality engines as NBCi and Go2Net!~

Not all of FindWhat's partners are what most people would call quality. Depending upon what keyword and industry you're targeting, I think only a portion of your traffic comes from a truely quality site.
It might be some what interesting to see what happens with it's relationship with :barf+:GAIN (GATOR), and if FindWhat desides to focus on quality or volume.

Let's not forget Hotbar...
I've been testing PPCs for a year now in researching an upcoming book, and Findwhat will never see another dime from me. They managed to drain my test account in nothing flat, referring implausible numbers of visitors for the test search terms.
Very few of these "visitors" stayed long enough for the page to load, and the conversion rate for all the visitors Findwhat referred was a predicable 0.000%. No sales (normally over 2%), no newsletter subscriptions (which was running at almost 10%).
The bulk of these "visits" came via Hotbar or unknown sources (in other words, the HTTP-referrer was some click-through URL on findwhat.com).
I'm sticking with Google and Overture.
