Hi guys,

I've found an affiliate program solution for my site. They provide my affiliates with a number of choices for linking, and whilst all links are of this kind -- www.mysite.com/affiliate.cgi?id=affid, they still lead to my home page.

Do you know whether Google consider such links as credits to my home page, or maybe they ignore it?

Thanks in advance,
Artruist

That is definitely a spiderable link, so Google will count it.

Welcome to the forums :hi:

A couple of things here. First, Google can and does spider links of this type.

Second, If you are wondering if this type of link will help your PR, most likely not, IMO. To see what I mean do some backward link checks on sites that have a lot of affiliate links pointing to them.

I joined an Affiliate Program from AffiliateShop.com which has links like this:
http://www.mymainsite.com/index.htm?AID=999999

No cgi script.

The calls to the affiliate program are handled by javascript in the page onload.

The company claims that this will "allows our merchants to achieve higher search engine placements based on link popularity" - http://www.affiliateshop.com/feat-tracking.htm

Any thoughts or comments?
