I understand that links from Yahoo and DMOZ help when it comes to PR. Joeant and GoGuides have also been mentioned.

How about Zeal?

The reason I ask is because I've been following links from a few different categories then checking out the backlinks for that site. Zeal never appears.

i DON'T THINK zEAL IS USEFUL FOR pr, 'cause the links it provides are not directed to the sites, but to a frame structure that google can't crawl.
So it should transmit no PR to the site listed above

Google decides what links it will count and what links it will discount. Zeal is part of the Look$mart network and provides results to M$N, a direct competitor of Google’s.
Google does NOT show links from competitors.

it sounds very strange to me: I read a lot of documents on Google PR, and I've never found something confirming your opinion. Moreover, looking for my incoming links on Google, I can find Teoma...

Looksmart listings (and other directory listings) are not counted by Google simply because Looksmart's use of robots.txt, that prevent the directory to be crawled by googlebot.

Hello goldrake75,

Here is a copy of Look$marts robot.txt file

I don't see google listed in their disallow.

I still stand by my statement, Google chooses what links to count or discount.

P.S. I don't really think Google views Teoma as a compeditor.
