For what it's worth (and it doesn't look like it's worth much, imo):

Web site owners can now guarantee their listing(s) are included within the search indexes of Excite (www.excite.com), Dogpile (www.dogpile.com), WebCrawler (www.webcrawler.com) and MetaCrawler (www.metacrawler.com), among others.
I fail to see the relevance? Don't we all get in those serps anyway? Arn't they simply meta-search type sites? I am confused as to why infospace sees this as significant?

Well, um...duh...so infospace can make money?
Did you check out their exhorbitant prices too?

They explained all this to me in person at the last conference, but like you, I didn't see any value in it for most Web sites.

Oh my:

Are these people on drugs? How do they propose to be MORE than the major search engines charge? LOLOL :green:

What a huge joke and actually quite an insult to our intelligence.

Who they're trying to appeal to are those who want to put in a large number of pages. The price gets reasonable for like 100 pages (on a per page basis).

But like you said at the beginning...why, and/or who cares?

Exactly.

As I tell every telemarketer and SEO "help" company; If I am not paying anything for over 2/3 of my traffic (Google & MSN), why should I pay any amount of money for less traffic?

Yes, and most of those show nothing but ppc listings on the first page of serps, right? So what, we are suppose to pay for being listed on page 3 with NO chance of being on page one because we are not in the ppc results? LOL
