'Death Of A Meta Tag'

In Danny Sullivan's Death of a Meta Tag (http://searchenginewatch.com/sereport/02/10-meta.html), he talks of burying the keywords meta tag. There are volumes in here about how this meta tag is over-rated and how it is better to have relevant content/copy instead. How advisable is it to drop this tag altogether as suggested in the article?

I say no to that. Not yet.

Inktomi still uses it a little bit.

Besides, it takes all of two or three seconds to make one, right? No big deal to put in a couple of keyphrases that pertain to that particular page.

Those were my thoughts, too. I would rather abandon them when I know they are totally worthless than now...
