OK, I just got thrown for a loop.
I have always thought Google updates once a month...please correct me if I am wrong on this.
I know from the 16th to the end of the month they will dance between the old and new index, until the new index stabilizes.
The old index had me at number 7, the new one for the past week on www2, and every once in awhile on www had me at number 1 and 2.
Today Google is showing a completely different index on www, and www3 than any of the previous 2 indexes i have seen. Has me at number 3.
I am real confused now! Anybody seen this before, it is a completely different index than the one which should have stabilized around this time, and is also not the old index.

I know newriver. This current index is disturbing. I certainly hope they are just testing things as this is real bad right now.

Something is going on, googlebots recent aggresive spidering is welcome but it points to something on the change, could it be a more fliud indexing?, fresher results perhaps... why waste all that info googlebot is giving them?

Bit confusing this, isn't it. Haven't checked www3, but usually the www2 results become the main results, but things keep shifting around - and not just between www and www2. Seen my site at no 1 , no 2 , no 23 all for one of my main terms within the space of a few refreshes. Never seen that before.

The thought of index's refreshing more often than once a month does get me excited...."BUT WHY OH GOD DOES IT HAVE TO HAPPEN THE MOMENT I GET A #1 RANKING FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!...lol"
It would be an interesting twist in the world of SEO to go back to the days of Infoseek's 48 refresh index with Google.

I'm all in favour of a 48 hour refresh, but this isn't what is happening. These slightly odd changes are taking place within the time it takes me to hit the 'refresh' button on my browser. It could be that it is just this index is taking time to settle, but as of now www and www3 are showing the same things. These are different from last month's results, but not the same as www2 (where, to be frank, my results are better).

I am in the good position of holding #1 across all versions of google, but my clients are not quite as lucky..... sure is a wierd one

Last time I checked this morning the www2 was the same as ww3, and www. Seems I had number 1 and 2 for all of five days there.

Google is still in a state of flux, searches carried out 5 minutes ago are displaying different results on 2 compared with 1 and 3.
Sponsered links were also being dropped then displayed, will keep my :eyes: on this.... as always

Guerrilla Googlebot has been indexing our site for the past four days!~ Typically Googlebot would index the entire site within just a few hours and be done for the month, however this latest engagement does not match the normal Modus Operandi.

Well, Googlebot is coming around these forums every two weeks now... very strange behavior I must say.
