I have noticed that Excite has started to fully emplement the Excite directory into the first page, etc search results.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Makes a Looksmart listing even more important.

man, you got my hopes up! I have a client who is aching to get back onto excite ever since they dropped him for no reason. He paid the $200 for a looksmart entry, but with excite not putting that in their main results, it was a waste as far as he was concerned.

I just checked their results, and it still wants me to click on "Web Directory" to get the looksmart results.

I have found many examples:

Type in

web site submissions

That is my Looksmart listing.

Anything that has the Excite directory below the listing is from Looksmart.

They are sprinkled throughout the search results for all phrases that I checked.

This is waaay big!

are you saying that the Looksmart listings for Excite are distributed throughout the results ? I'm not sure this is true for the UK version. Though if you are into PPC, check out how the Goto results are displayed at excite.co.uk - depending on the client, I either love this or hate it with a passion.

Looks to me like Excite trashed that idea. My position on the term above is back to my regular Excite listing, not the LS listing.

Besides Looksmart, where else do Excite searche results come from? I am still seeing a lot of spammy doorways....

Yes MsSearch, Excite does have lots of doorway pages. They have there own spider and do have their own index and all but sometimes the results have a lot to be considered.

Of course, if my sites are on the first page, then the results are just fine. :D
