I have a new technique for finding sites to trade links with. I do a link search for a web site in my same google directory that has a high PR. I then go to all these sites that link to this site and e-mail the web masters for a link trade. I figure if they traded links with my "competitor" they will probably want to trade links with me. Chances are most of these sites will give me a good PR if they send me a link too. Is this a good technique? I want to see how you all feel about it before I make it a habit.
any other/better techniques? Any software you recommend?

Hi Vince - this is nothing new. This is a commonly used technique in any link building campaign - whether DIY or outsourced. Nothing wrong with this technique, as long as you don't misrepresent your site or your product to the site you are offering to exchange links with. You should also base your selections on what links would be useful to your visitors rather than entirely on Google PR.

wow that was fast! Yes I alwasy ask my self, "is this site relevant to the theme of my web site." also "does this site contain my key phrases on it."
I think those are good things to consider. I guess I should start asking my self if this is a site my surfers would want to see. They most always are.

Yes. I prefer to read these forums for their content and not for the sigs and tags. That's what the sig file (http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums/member.php?s=&action=editprofile) is for. Thanks.
