Linking to Joeant can be VERY beneficial to the linking party. As most can see, we're a very open directory. Reasoning behind showing the referrers in the info pages is to reward those that are sending us traffic among other things. For the best results, you should direct traffic to topics that pertain to your site. Text hyperlinks are preferred, but we've recently designed some buttons for those that want graphics to fill in with.

These can be used by any and all. Please make sure if you use these that you copy and save them to your hosts HD. I don't know how long we are going to keep them in the image folder.

Here's why and how the referrer links are stored and pulled. We match them to an IP. So if you have a static IP and have already visited once, where you originally came from will always show up as your referrer. Let's say a new visitor visits your site, clicks on the joeant link and parades around 50 topics. Their referring page(yoursite.com) will show up in every listing's info page in all 50 topics. This could mean over 1000 hyperlinks linking back to your site because of one visitor. Depending on how full the topics are of course. I can't go further into to this, but visitors referred by your index(yoursite.com) pages...priceless!

I don't get how this works. Are there examples on your site of how the links show up?

I can't tell you how it works (only Mr. JoeAnt knows for sure) but I can tell you where to go and view the info pages with the links. Go to any topic and find a listing - perhaps one of your clients sites - and click on the info link to the left of the site name and description. The information inside should be fairly self-explanatory.

If you have any specific questions after viewing the info page(s), please ask them here and someone will respond. :-)

Hey Glo-

Trying to understand- if a visitor to my site is referred to JoeAnt from my page, than the referring URL becomes a link on each page they visit? Or the referring IP?

Some of my sites have a shared IP- how would that work?

Thanks- sounds interesting!

The referral link should show as coming from the website that referred it. If your website is widgets.com, the link will refer to widgets.com. If you have shop.widgets.com, then that address will show in the referral links for each site visited on Joeant. I'm not sure if sub-pages will show as the referral link but I will find out.

I could be wrong but I believe this is how it works. There are other features coming for the info pages that webmasters will love! Stay tuned, more to come. There will be a press release coming out soon that will have more information on Joeant's new and improved features.

So would this be working for me from my newsletter archive page? I mentioned you guys last week in this article. (http://www.highrankings.com/issue031.htm#seo)

BTW, did it bring you guys some good traffic? ;)

Hi Jill,

It sure did. I think I can speak for all in saying 'Thank you very much.'

BTW. You also should have a few more new subscribers including myself. :D

That's great! I think I saw your subscription come in, and knew the name tlpretender sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. I thought it was a name from here, but it didn't click who you were!

Hi all,

I just submitted two of my websites to the joe ant directory...

I tried a good while back but things on the site were not working. This time all went through.
Thanks!
