One of the joys of dot coms, is that in most browsers, you can enter the name, without the http:// or the www or the .com - and still get where you wish to be.

Try that with goguides, and you get a spam merchant sending pop-up boxes as fast as you can delete them.

Seems to me that (unless goguides.org has shares in goguides.com) this is a recipe for disaster - it can never become another 'google'.

Living proof of the wisdom of buying the .com - even if it simply forwards to the chosen name (some would argue that it should be the chosen name ... )

Better to change name/url now, before it beomes a serious setback.

Yes, I agree but the problem is that domain is already taken.

If they had the money, they could buy it back or get it back in the mighty international cyber-squattin' court. If they cared.

Obviously there isn't a bunch of money at play - they're offline right now.

Hey Dan,

What part of the country are you in? Everything has been up for me all day, but Laurie had problems too.

Flat is right for that state. When I used to drive from Santa Fe to Amarillo or from El Paso to Dallas the drive seemed sooooooo long with such straight flat roads.

We always used to say in NM and CO that if God had wanted Texans to ski he would have made them a mountain. :p

It must be a break somewhere downstream from NY since it's working fine here still.
