Can anyone give me input on how to rank well in MSN through a LookSmart listing. Thanks.

Yes, pay them, and then keep adding money to your account every time you get an email telling you to do so.
Let us know how it goes.

Unfortunately, that doesn't provide insight on how to get good rankings. Keywords in title and descriptions alone do not guarantee good rankings. I've seen many examples of where sites with the keyword only in the description rank much higher than sites with the keyword in the title, description, and even URL.

They also have fields where you can add keywords, I believe. They may charge extra for each one, so be sure to check it out.
Regent, basically the only way to know how to rank higher with LookSmart is to run your own tests. Keep paying them $49 to change your title and description until you get one that works. And/or pay however much it is they want to add keywords, until those work. I'm sure you'll come up with something in the end.
In fact, if/when you figure it out, come back and post it here!
Don't forget that whatever you come up with, you will probably also rank for keywords that aren't targeted to your site. This is not a problem with regular search engine listings, as you don't have to pay for each click. With LookSmart ads (masquerading as search results) you DO have to pay for each click. So be careful of any extranneous words that you put into your Title and description. There apparently is no way to EXCLUDE words that you don't want to rank high with.
For some reason, LS seems to think this is a good thing, as they touted this in one of their press releases awhile back. I don't quite understand their logic on that one, but whatever!

Yes it does. As there are MANY sites out there including these forums who are using the Free listings thing. As those sites drop out, because we refuse to pay LS one cent, sites who pay stay in and move UP in ranks. That is a very big factor in LS.
Other factors? I don't think there is rhyme nor reasons why some paid listings are ranked where they are. I think it's a random kind of thing now. When Looksmart was a "real" directory, and not a PPC directory like the many thousands out there now, there was a way to achieve ranks in it. Now, don't worry about it and simply keep dishing out your monies to Looksmart and spending the big bucks, and you will do just fine.

LOL. Yes, simply keep paying them the $49 bucks to 'tweak' your title and description. That would give you a clue as to how they rank. Problem is, it's more money in LS pockets and not a lot of benefit to you for the money. Go for it though if you feel it's worth it.

The only way to know what works with MSN LS CPC results is to set up an account. From the lack of experiences here, I gather that not many people who frequent this forum are using the CPC program.
However, if you do set up an account, they are running a special on their $49 'Update Listing' for $19...don't know how long this will last but if you are going to test it, at least do it while they are running their special....

I agree MsSearch. I'd be interested in hearing from people who are/have used it.
