I don't know if this question can be answered or not, but give it a shot. Say I was to get on the first page of Google, Yahoo, Altavista, Lycos, and maybe a few others with the keywords satellite tv, satellite television, and free satellite tv. Do you think it would be possible to get about 50,000 people going there every month? Is it still possible to even get on the first page using these keywords. Here is some info I pulled form Overture.

3227 free satellite tv
139735 satellite tv
118395 satellite television

These numbers represent the number of times these keyowrds were searched for per month. Again, do you think it would be possible to get about 50,000 people per month going to my site considering these words are searched for so much. Out of all these search engines these keywords are probably searched for millions of times.

Welcome to the forums Nick! :hi:

The question cannot be answered.

Use www.wordtracker.com to get more accurate figures. The Overture stuff is not right. All you can do is go off the figures and guess how many times your listing might be clicked. NO Way to know.

Here is info from wordtracker. Last figure is total competition in Google for the term. Next to last is number of searches done daily on Google. 3rd from last is total searches done daily across the majors.

1 dishnetwork hack 406.116 447 161 492
2 dish network 167.218 9720 3495 565000
3 dishnetwork 95.916 2052 738 43900
4 direct tv 94.278 16043 5768 2730000
5 satelite tv 20.302 959 345 45300
6 satellite tv 4.166 2761 993 1830000
7 digital tv 0.187 676 243 2440000
8 direct tv satelite 0.136 58 21 24700
9 direct tv satellite 0.015 104 37 718000
10 satellite tv guide 0.015 106 38 759000
11 satellite tv systems 0.013 100 36 781000
12 free satellite tv 0.009 114 41 1480000

Hope this helps.

Yes. It's the competition report. I look at the last 3 figures:

total searches daily
daily searches in Google
SERPS count of pages

In that particular one 'dishnetwork hack' is a damn good term to target for someone. :) Anything with 'dish network' in it is great including 'dish network'.

thanks - I had tried the free trial but I guess I never completed all the steps :o:

This seems like some great info! It will help me relook at my sites and see them through the eyes of my target audience rather than trough my own "tainted" eyes. :D

Welcome, Nick!

First off, Doug is right - there are more and better keywords out there. The three search terms you mentioned are probably worth 40-50 a day, if you were on the first page of every search engine. Multiply by 3-5 if you do a moderately better job of covering your bases on keywords.

You also need to think about targeting. Searchers might be shopping for a dish, they might be looking for a bootleg descrambler, info on how to steal service, free installation in Champaign-Urbana, etc. 50,000 might be stretching it. Not that the market isn't big enough, but those search terms are pretty generic.
