umm,
can somebody shed a light on this issue for me?
or marketing director had forwarded this tom me.
here's an email:
"Hi,

Therefore, I had created a link to your website under :

as Nimlok Display and Exhibit Solutions Worldwide

total links from major search engines.

Please kindly return the favor by creating a link back to us. For linking options please visit http://www.reals.com/linktous.htm

REALS.COM"

i have some thoughts and a ton of questons:
ok - our company designs and manufactures trade show displays, but who would be looking for us on a real estate web site??? that seems to be the biggest question i am asking myself.
right now they have a link to us on that page, but i guess it will be removed if we do not reply or reply saying that we would not like to participate. there are also links to our major competitors' sites as well on that page right now. of course, those links might be on that page at the same status as our - i.e. i am not sure if our competitors decided to participate in this thing or if their links will eventually disappear fom that page.
also, since our web site has nothing to do with real estate, where are we supposed to stick a link to them anyway?
when i searched google for "real estate", they did not come up on the first 15 pages of teh results (i ddi not go any further). when searched on "real estate directory", they come up as #3, which i guess is pretty good.
could you guys give me the feedback on this? is it really worth doing?

VaL, These are cookie cutter email templates sent out back the 'linkstoyou' software. They NEVER visited your site. Stay far away from this as possible.

Is linkstoyou.com anything more than a link farm? How does it work, and should reputable SEO providers use it for clients' link popularity?

Thanks!

You can get the same junkmail from Zeus too.

I have used a program called Arelis to find link partners.

But I don't consider it spam because the program has a built in browser to view and study each site before I even think of requesting a link to them.

So, I carefully analyze each site to make sure. Then send a personal email to them if everthing looks good.

I have found it to be a useful tool in finding other relevant sites.

Here it is: (been there, done that a few times)

Welcome to the forums Denny! :hi:

Please don't make your first post using an affiliate link. You can see that software has been discussed in here many times. ALL that kind of software many times.

BEWARE do not discuss software...because the thread will be closed...

This just brings out the point...that software is a relevant topioc and should be discussed or it would not be brought up several times

I do agree with you on Arelis i have dabbled with it and it seems like a very good program.

:D

Yes. My point exactly as it opens up the fact of people posting affiliate links for software so they can make money. NO ONE will use my forums in that way.

Ya better ease up Opt, otherwise, the "might" I posted in the other thread will quickly become a "BAN" on discussing this software.

I apologize for discussing software...my intention was good.
Won't do it again.

Arelis is a much better program to use then Zeus. But people can spam with this software too. Without studying the website just sending emails from a template.

When you get an email from another website look for a few things:

1. Is the email you received personalized?
2. Is the website linking to you of good quality?
3. Does this website have a ton of pop-ups?
4. What is the traffic rank for this website?
5. It this website in any way related to yours?
6. Is this website of value to your visitors?

These are very important questions. Do not just exchang links with any website. It does not do you any good!

Using a program like "linkstoyou" is one of the worst things you can do to your site. It is not just a linkfarm but also a linksnest. This means many other websites have an identical link directory on their site. This is very easy for search engines to see and will not spider these pages or even worse ban it!
