Greetings,
We are trying setting up an online shop on www.earthcultureroots.com (i am the webmaster)
The order were before by email or phone, now someone is setting up shopping cart using ewebcart.com
But I am not satisfied with the results, this person being too much amateur, not respecting our graphic style (ie look the shop pages to have an idea).
We are then lookin for an alternative solutions and enough skilled people to give a decent look (keepin the current one) to our online shop.
2 possibilities : keeping ewebcart and developping static html pages while feeding the database, or beginning again from scratch with a dynamic online shop.
we don't have a extremely big budget
Let me know your suggestions and send proposals at s.billard@free.fr. only serious people please.

why don't you use http://www.mals-e.com
it's free, easy to set up and customisable to your look & feel, with the benefit of keeping your entire set up as html on your site except for the actual "shopping cart" Upgrades to paid for services for higher functionality are available (but I have never needed to use them).

If you want a full featured package, I would recommend Miva. It's one of the biggest shopping carts around. You can get hosting with 300 MB of space and SSL for only $18/month from Westhost.
You might also try Oscommerce. You can get hosting for Oscommerce for as little as $3/month, but the SSL costs extra.

Yes I too can vouch for Mal's E Com. I've used them for a client and it was relatively simple to set up. Plus you can't beat free! :thumb:

It really depends on goals and experience..
If you don't know jack about web programming with Db design, queries, etc then you go with an oursourced solution.
If you DO know jack about the above then you build your own OR customize an open source software already available (oscommerce is good).
If you don't have the time then you hire a profession to build and customize for you.
Personally... when we build ecommenrce/shopping apps for client we always design our own. Sure we have a set core of code that get shte ball rolling.. however, each client has different needs and required from a shopping cart AND checkout engine. Each are completely different yet very important TO each other.
Just my thoughts.

I've set up 4 clients since August on 1automationwiz.com because its really much more then 'a shopping cart'. If you are interested in integrating your opt in email effort to capture more prospects, track ads, use coupons, create autoresponder series, build a database of customers and so forth, then $39 a month is hard to beat.
You can try it for free for a month.
Its simple to set up and use and customer support has been quick when needed.
All the best,
Tom Parish
