Hm. I am making a site for the girlfriend at the moment, and unfortunately the webspace we are using is the freebie stuff from the ISP. While this is pretty good, with CGI, PHP, MySQL and log files, the domain name we have points to the webserver, and the cgi-bin is located on a different server for some reason that escapes me.
Since I want to use Movable Type to act as a content manager, I've run into the problem that it can only write to the server it is located on (ie the CGI server).
The solution I've come up with is to place an .htaccess file on the webserver at the root to redirect to the root of the cgi server where files can be written.
What effect do .htaccess redirects have on the SE's?
I have a vague feeling in my toes that they aren't gonna like em as I suspect it could be used as a spam technique by those on "the Dark Side"...
Thanks in advance for any help
